I had my post op Echo today. The preliminary results are awesome. My pulmonary pressure before surgery was 120 mmHg. When I was in the hospital the Cardio and Surgeon were hoping for my level to drop to around 70 with mid 60s being fantastic. So high normal is in the 20's mmHg. The big reveal is................. My pressure is mid 40s very low 50s. I know it was just the tech and an echo but even if there was a 20% difference I'm still in fantastic shape. And my heart compared to the last echo in September 08 is starting to shrink.:D

Now the bad news. My vacation is over. After 3 months off I start work and the baby starts daycare in the morning.:( And I work at a General Motors Dealership as a mechanic. In this economy.

Great news on your heart echo and I wish you well in the dealership. I worked in a big used car dealership and I know your pain. I hope things pick up for you and I know it will.

Congratulations on the ph reduction and the heart resizing! You sound like you feel better too.

Hope the re-entry to the working world is as painless as possible.

Congratulations on the good report. I hope all is well with your return to work.

Great news- I know how you must hate to leave the baby and go back to work, but I am glad you still have a job to go back to!!

Hey Geckley

That's really great news on your Echo results and the resizing of your heart back to normal. You got me wondering about my follow-up results, but my echo has a lot of abbreviations so I can't tell my results for pressure. Did you get a print out and can you tell me which measurement relates to pulmonary pressure I wonder if "Ao mean PG" stand for Aortic mean pressure gradient?

Thanks,
John

P.S. It's cold here:(-please send HOT chili!:D

The PH reduction is tremendous . . . way to go!:)
I know you hate leaving the baby, and the outlook for the car industry is uncertain, but you have recovered well and have the physical strength to take on all challenges!
Congratulations!

Great news on the heart issue.

Wrench twister eh. My brother is also and he said their business is so bad write now that he fears layoffs or possibly even closing of the dealership he works for and worse, he and his wife had to file bankruptcy. Economic recovery cannot happen fast enough.

Ouch. I hope you aren't facing a layoff anytime soon....

As for the vacation being over in general, if I had the job I have now when I had my 2003 surgery, I wouldn't mind going back to work. But, back then, I did....and (inwardly) wished my "vacation" could've been longer ... so I could've taken FULL advantage of the "time off". It always irks me when people at work see it as a "true vacation", when we all know it is FAR from a vacation at all......

*sighs*

More importantly in all of this, though ... CONGRATULATIONS on the GOOD news!!!

Better news. Had a Ct done and another echo done today. This time at Johns Hopkins. The results...................... thats a drum roll. Pulmonary pressure is in fact in the low 50s and my heart is actually starting to return to normal size.!!!!!!!!! For me that is a drop of almost 60 %. It truly is a miracle. The doctors a so pleased they green lighted me to go to altitude. I can go and see my Rocky Mountains again. Also they are going to retest in October and if the results are just as good they are thinking of weaning me off Revatio. All I need now is to win the lotto and retire.
