Just got up for my 3 1/4 lap of the CSICU - number three needed a nap recovery but feeling really good now:). Ready for supper. They have a heparin IV in to get my INR up and I'm getting insulin now and again as my sugar is a bit high, along with a bewildering array of other stuff I have had nothing like real pain and even the odd coughing event went pretty well with my little huggy pillow:p! Physio was by today and apparently I start the class tommorrow - climbing stairs etc. - something to do! I am in a small ward with two really grumpy old men and one nice guy and me - sweetheart that I am:D! Have a nice view down to Davey Street and can see the north shore mountains.
Thanks for all the support and all the info beforehand - it really is not as bad as we all think - the truck is real but it has really soft tires;)!!
Will post again once I get strong enough to push the old hands out of the prime computer seats!

Wow....who the heck can type on day 3 postop? (Not me).
My biggest challenge was producing a daily BM.....I know, TMI.
So, take it slow, sometimes things can catch up with you later, pace yourself.:)

Good to hear from you Cameron.! Wow...as Bina said...a post on day 3. That is amazing. :)

Best wishes for a smooth continued recovery. One day at a time...

Sounds like you are doing just great, and on track!

I would have been posting on day 3, too, except they kept me in ICU in a drug-induced coma for two days (and I wasn't a member, either :D) - I was developing pneumonia, and they wanted to keep the breathing tubes in, so sleepy-land it was for me. Then I hovered in ICU awake and rarin' to go for 2 days (it was weekend, and they don't move patients on a weekend is the story I got!) so I was up and walking before a nurse or physio even said "Hi" to me.

Hey Cameron!

You're sounding great guy but as others have advised, slow down!

Sometimes the meds take a while to leave your system & you might get to feeling like your "superman" & only to find yourself crashing to the ground, so take it easy!

Hope you continue to do well! :)

Thanks for the update, Cameron. Keep up the good work and you will be home before you know it!

Hi Cameron - glad to see you're through the surgery and feeling well. Wow - I'm surprised the physio class will have you climbing stairs already! I was advised to give them a miss for the first few weeks if possible... along with a lot of other stuff (just some gentle walking). Hope they're not pushing you too hard too soon, but I guess you're in the right place ;)

Anyhoo, don't go climbing any of those mountains just yet! :D Hope your recovery continues to go well.

A : )

Glad to learn how well you are doing/feeling. Keep up the good work.

When we were in Vancouver we stayed at a hotel on Davey near Stanley Park and watched the fireworks over English Bay. We loved the Rain City Grill, too.

Cheers

Thanks Guys for all the support, and you are all right as usual - I had a tiny setback yesterday - low grade fever and felt pretty yucky:(, but seem to have recovered today but am taking it easier - good long nap after every circuit:)!! Still have in the heparin IV as my INR still hasn't climbed over 1.2 - they increased my Coumadin and hope that I will be in range and ready to go home on Thursday or Friday. I am also officially diabetic and got my home tester for that today, however, one of the other doctors thought that with some exercise and weight loss I may be able to get off medication and control by diet only.
Looking forward to wifey visiting again this afternoon - we had some snow today but not too bad. I have to give her a morale boosting e-mail to tell her how much better I feel:D!
Thanks to all and talk to you soon.

P.S. Two milestones - slept on my side last night :) and had a few sneezes today - no squigly aliens came popping out so I think the incision is healing OK:p!

Hey man, you sound good.
Not that it matters, but they sent me home with my INR at 1.6 :)
Be good to yourself and don't over do things - one day at a time.
Oh yea, congrats on sleeping on your side and surviving the sneezes ;)

Cameron it is great to be at home and read your postings. While I was in the hospital I had my husband keep watching to see if there was any posts with an update about you. Too bad we weren't in the same hospital, we could of done our walks together :)
Hope your recovery keeps going good.
