It's 7pm and trying to get all the last minute stuff done....

packed my small backpack with the bare minimum.
it's 90 degrees and sunny in chennai, must remember sunscreen.
emptied and cleaned the fridge.
washed everything washable.
got my head shaved.
got in one last run, 2 miles @ 14:55.
bought a blood pressure monitor thingy for the return.
came with a free pedometer thingy, yay.

no point in going to bed, wouldn't be able to sleep, and have to get
up at 3:30 anyway. 4am taxi to the train station for the 5am run
to nanning. then it gets fun and confusing.

suppose i'll surf a bit and watch a movie or three. maybe can sleep on
the plane. get in tomorrow evening at 9:30pm, there should be a car
waiting for me to go directly to the hospital to check in. then can start
all the fun stuff the following day. (but please, oh please, no foley!)

thanks everyone for your help and assistance and information. i may
be able to log in at the hospital, can give you a picture of the indian
medical system, and then again when i wake up.

Surgery

Surgery

Why surgery in India rather than China?
I am also curious as to why you would want to shave your head?
Chest shaving is mandatory for obvious reasons, and groin, if you are having and angio but other than that nothing needs shaving. :D
Sun screen shouldn't be necessary in hospital, doesn't matter how hot it is outside in India. :D
Your incision line should be kept out of the sun until fully healed as this in extremely sensitive to sun burn. : Eek:
Good luck for the upcoming surgery and look forward to you post from the other side.
As I like to say I got to sleep through the hardest part. :D

here are your answers emu-man:

the chinese medical system is not up to standard. indian system is
world class (at least the facilities for foreigners), and the heart institutes
have excellent english-speaking doctors with loads of experience.

shave my head because the nurses will think it's so sexy; i'll
tell them they can rub my head for luck. and as i won't be allowed
to shower, i can avoid icky hair. will feel cleaner.

sunscreen is for the beach. once i'm released from the hospital, i've
booked a seaside resort for two weeks.

sunscreen/sunglasses/speedo is the only thing not in the standard
go-to-the-hospital bag. keeping it light, as i have three flights coming
back, bag weighs in at 4.5kg (about 10 pounds for metrically challenged).

Best wishes for a successful surgery and uncomplicated recovery. We will be here waiting to hear. Godspeed!

Chou, like others, I really enjoy reading your posts. I hope that everything goes smoothly for you in both your travels and surgery. One question, if you have any post op complications after you return home, do you have access to medical care to help you? I can't wait to read your post afterward. Godspeed.

Kim

Take a fishing pole! That is all I wanted to do when I got out. Go fishing and watch the ladies.

Ah, a true renegade raised 'west of the pecos'......only Texan I know who'd wear a speedo..:D And I still can't get my head around Chinese spoken with a West Texas accent....Lordy.

Buena suerte on your journey to excellent health. See ya over the mountain.

sorry ross, no fishing pole. how about i just put out the old 'wedding tackle'
and see if'n i gets a nibble? oh, yeah, i forgot, not supposed to lift anything heavy.

(woohoo, train leaves in 3.5 hours!!)
