Ross, you probably made a good call there waiting for Monday - just try and get out the house BEFORE the mailman brings any more hospital bills, OK ???:D

Now, go see that doctor pronto and get better soon

Hugs

Hey it doesn't matter. They'll just bring them to me while I'm in the hospital. :(:)

Brother Ross, Hope you are getting some effective treatment, and starting to feel better.

Well I'm back from foot inspection. He's not sure. He thinks it might be Gout so he gave me a script for some meds and a blood test to check for yuckies in my blood. We shall see.......

Hey Ross,
I'm likely asking a stupid question, but did they do a culture on the wound where your kitty got you? My husband has recurring cellulitis because they can't over-come a staph infection that is keep in his foot due to total foot reconstruction after a run-in with a drunk driver. He has been fighting this on and off for 10 years. Hopefully this last bout in June finally did the trick at least that is what his podiatrist hopes. Anyway, I will keep you in my prayers cause you seem to be in a no-win situation.

My episodes were both radiating from a joint, (wrist and elbow), and the immunologist also suggested an arthritic condition, but the hospital said cellulitis. Anyway, mine was cured with strong IV antibs. Oral ones did nothing. Watch out for the spreading of the red area. Okay? Good. Get some rest, keep the foot up to help circulation.

With CHF, I swell up and sometimes the skin breaks and lets nasties in. That's what happened last time I did have it. I was told then that it will reoccur from time to time from then on. I keep hoping they're wrong, but why should they be? There going to have all of our income, my kids income and any ones they can get from all of my hospitalizations. It's freakin ridiculous.

To answer your question, no, but they did take a blood test to check for uric acid in my blood, which I'm sure they'll find, but is it enough to cause Gout, that is the question?

That actually happened to me/mom before her valve/bypass job. My mom was unconscious, on a balloon heartpump, given a 50/50 chance to survive. The billing dept set a bill for 200 dollars on her tray table. She has good insurance, but the hospital had at the time a requirement for 200 dollars before she left the hospital. Actually had that sign at admitting.I was FURIOUS!!!! I paid them for her, but I let them know what I thought of their lack of tact!!!

Hope your foot heals fast!!! Deb:)

That's a very effective med. Works quickly. I presume your doc started you on 3-5 tablets right away and then one a day thereafter? Getting it started with a big dose gets it working quickly.

I know someone who gets gout from time to time.
Hope you feel better soon, Ross.

Joe got gout several times and was on colchicine. Gout is painful. He once got it in his shoulder. We didn't know that was possible, but the doctor said that actually, you can have gout in many places, not just the foot.

Some heart related colchicine trivia.....I was on colchicine but as a preventative measure after my pericardial tamponade episode. Although originally developed to treat gout, apparently it's been proven effective against pericardial effusion.
