Anyone else ever feel like a total klutz -- or is it just me? In middle of night, I stubbed my toe -- hard -- on the side of a desk in the darkness and today it is bruised and hurts. Hope it is not broken but I understand there isn't much you can do about a broken toe anyway. Then I hobbled to grocery store (we were about out) and in getting some coffee at the deli, missed the cup and had a spill. Made me think: what the heck is wrong with me; what next?

Anybody else have days like this?

All the time!!! No, they can't do anything for your toe, but you can tape it to the one next to it. (That hurts) I have cut the top out of any old tennis shoe so I could walk. Some days are like that for, I think, everyone. It will get better.

Klutz? Yes, I'm one fairly often; more so with dropping things. I have stubbed my toe like that; it hurts terribly even when not broken. I hope your toe heals soon for you.

Brains and trains cactus and other things

Brains and trains cactus and other things

Bob:

Remember the story about heaven and the day they were handing out brains? Some folks thought they said "trains" and said they did not need any.

Sometimes I think I may have been one of those people. A month or so ago, I stepped into a cactus. There are only 14 cacti on my front lawn. The best part, however, is that I did not have shoes on at the time!

Don't worry about being a klutz. You're in good company.

I'm still picking little thorns out of my foot. But, the up-side is that when I tell people what I did, they get a good belly laugh out of it.

I think we stub our toes and do other things like that because our minds are preoccupied with other things. Happens to the best of us and all of us from time to time. You're OK, and I'm Ok.

Regards,
Blanche

Bob,
Been there, done that many times.
More often now that I'm an old man.:(
Also because I havn't been around I think I missed your birthday young man.
Hope you had a good one.
Rich

Man Chris did that to the toe on his bad foot and while he has almost no feeling in it, he sure as heck feels this. This thing is black and blue at the joint (Big toe). Guess it's not broken, but it sure swelled up and got ugly like it was.

I've had my share of the Klutz ray from outer space zapping me. Everything from walking straight into stationary objects to kicking the couch leg. I think it has something to do with being human.

that's why I keep night lights at several spots in my house. I fell once long time ago and have not been w/o those lights since. Hope you find relief. I think these days they put your foot in a cradle thing to relieve pressure and soreness. But you hafta go get it checked - or maybe you can buy them and put it on yourself. saves er costs.

Being a klutz and getting hurt doing it is the ultimate insult to yourself! I do feel for you. Hensylee said nightlights, and that is the way to go. I also have them everywhere. I also think my dogs likes to have them at night.

So here are some of my klutz stories. First off, let me tell you that Joe was a superb athlete, so smooth and graceful in all his motions, coming from having played baseball, football, basketball and lots of track.

I was a cheerleader, and did a jump and overrotated my back and ended up with a stress fracture at L-3 and L-4. Never healed quite right, so there are some motions that are awkward for me, at least that was my excuse to Joe. :D

When we were dating, on the very first date, we went to the Saratoga flat track, not too far from where I live. We had a wonderful day and as we were leaving, I stumbled, broke the heel off my shoe and fell to the ground. Joe had to pick me up, and of course, I limped all the way to the car with one high heel and one without.

I also fell several times, who knows why? I guess I just turned my ankle. So Joe always kept his hand on my arm "just in case".

Another time when we were dating, we went to a fancy restaurant. I love snails and ordered them as an appetizer. Now, really, I have managed that little snail thingy many times w/o incident, but that night. of all nights, after managing the first couple just fine, the snail slipped out of the thingy and shot up to the ceiling, making a grease stain on it.

Another time, I was walking through the lobby of a fine hotel in another country, it was beautiful and they had a low, reflecting pool in the middle of the lobby. Well, I was talking and walking (something dangerous, I guess), and walked right into the reflecting pool, splashing water all over.

Joe and I would laugh a lot over my many klutz moments.

So believe me, you are not alone.

Do what you can to keep things safe around your home. Nightlights, make sure all scatter rugs are not a tripping hazard, guardrails where needed on stairways, always.

Nancy,

I, too, am still laughing at these sweet stories. Thank you for sharing.

And thanks to all others too -- I still feel like a klutz, but maybe one with some company. :p And I am resolved to put some night lights around and about. When we moved out in the country, I marveled at how dark it was at bedtime and how blessed that was. But I've learned the hard way I shouldn't trust my memory as to where various objects are located. :p

Thanks again, dear friends, for being there again.

I was going to say "Turn the light on, Bob!", but I guess nightlights are a better choice. Nancy, your stories are hilarious! I can just picture you on your first date hobbling along with a red face!

I've walked into things, fallen off things, tripped, and been a total klutz. My daughter's name is Hannah, which means "God's Grace." My son was a planned birth on a Tuesday "Tuesday's child is full of grace." I figured they needed all the help they could get since their genetics might be flawed! :p

Today it was my tongue that was stumbling. Several times I said the right word with the wrong first letter. I called my old car a Nougar. I called my daughter Shannah. About the 4th or 5th time I did it in a couple of hours, I wondered if I was having a small stroke! But, I figure it's probably just me and my lack of grace!

Like everyone else Bob, you're in good company! Sometimes I think "Klutz" is my middle name! :D

My hands are arthritic & so grasping & holding on to things has become a real challenge. The other day, I came in with groceries & when putting them away, the half-gallon of milk slipped my grasped & the jug just exploded when it hit the kitchen floor! I had milk all over the floor, frig, cabinets, everywhere except inside the milk jug! :D

One morning the phone rang real early & when I tried to get out of bed, I got wrapped up in the blankets & twisted my ankle really bad ---- black & blue for days & so painful to walk on. And when I checked the ID caller to see who'd called, it was an unknown number!!! Ugghhhhh!

Hope your toe gets better my friend! Know how you feel!
:)

Bob ? I felt your pain, literally:mad:?. I am pretty sure I mentioned stubbing my toe on the bed post (I was shuffling to the bathroom?.) as an excuse to cover my lack of exercise ? I?m pretty sure it was fractured but HOLY Smoke the pain?. It has healed but is still an odd shade of blue and it has been at least a month since I did it? of course DW always slips on her house shoes when she gets up but she was kind enough to offer, ?you should wear shoes?? I don?t consider myself a klutz but I have done a few stupid things through the years that have resulted in injury?. Swinging through the branches can be hazardous as well if not properly dressed:eek:

Don't feel alone SuperBob. I've hurt my toes plenty of times on the couch legs. OUCH!!! Hurts like heck. I've iced it and put it up and still hurts. Black and Blue just don't look well on me.:D:D

Thanks again for all the good wishes and sympathy. And especially the stories... hey we could do a "You Might Be a Klutz if...." (apologies to Jeff Foxworthy) thread once in a while. :p:p Maybe it's therapeutic -- misery loves company, or whatever.

Speaking of therapeutic, my toe still looks bad but it feels a little better (so I am thinking it's not quite broken) -- so went on to physical therapy for the knee this morning. Told my cute little PT about the problem in advance, and she gave me that "oh sure!" look, and we spent an hour joking about it while she proceeded to kick my butt with ever-increasing exercises. Am managing to do them, so must be getting better -- knee AND toe. :D

And hey anything that clears the way for an hour's worth of flirting with a hottie 40 years Superbob's junior can't be all bad, right?;)

Ouch SB...I have alot of sympathy for owners of sore toes...I kicked my little toe into the door frame one night and badly injured my toe, after the pain kept me awake all night and I could no longer even put my foot on the ground I went to hosptal...got it xrayed and found out I had dislocated it , at least with a dislocation they reset it for you...It hurt almost as much as childbirth.
Damn toes...if they werent needed for balance I would have the little ones amputated!

BINA....when you find a cure for snoring hubbies other than swapping them for goats let me know...
