Welcome to our newest member and just want to send you on your way to Yale with lots of good wishes for your AVR and root replacement. It is a fine facility and I know you will do well and be back here to tell us all about it soon. I hope you can have someone post for you and let us know how you are doing- we tend to worry until we hear all good news! Godspeed!

Wishing you the very best Mark that you may have a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.
Oh yea, you may want to bring some ear plugs ;)

Mark's Recovery Progress

Mark's Recovery Progress

Mark continues to recover at Yale. We have been walking the halls and tonight he finally ate a small meal which I think is a big deal as his appetite and sense of taste has been a struggle since the surgery. His surgeon ended up doing the St. Jude valve, replaced his aorta all the way up into the aortic arch, had to bypass the LAD coronary artery due to debris from the bad valve, and also had to replace part of the subclavian artery as well. His surgery took 8 hours but he made it through like a champ. Needless to say after being spread open for so long, he has quite a bit of chest and shoulder pain. Looks like he will get discharged either tomorrow (Monday 11/10) or on Tuesday. I'm sure it won't be long before he's on the computer again. Thank you all for your support. It's amazing to me how many families struggle through this ordeal. I'll let you all know when he's back home. His wife, Kelly

Thanks for the update, Kelly. I hope all the bumps in the road are behind him now and he has a complete and easy recovery. Look forward to hearing that he is home soon.
