Dennis ?. I take the CVS brand of Centrum Silver ? It has vitamin K but the body need some from what I understand ? I have been on them since AVR with no problem ?. Consistency is the key as you know.

I take a generic equivalent of One-A-Day Essentials - no Vit. K. However, it is vitamins only, no minerals so not sure if that is what you want.

Dennis, if you are interested in a particular brand of vitamin, try doing a google search on it.
I've done this before with One-A-Day, etc. Many manufacturers' web sites will list the ingredients.

Dennis, I take a generic brand one a day vitamin that has 25% vitamin k. I have been using it since I had surgery. I don't always eat enough greens like I should. I have never had too many problems with my INR being too low, unless i forget to take my Coumadin. That happens a couple of times a year, unfortunately.

Cooker is right, you do need to have some vitamin k. Consitancy is the key.

You mean to say that I should also be taking a multi vitamin daily? I've only been taking D and Magnesium with calcium.
How badly will that screw up the INR?

Fred, some vitamins contain no Vitamin K, so no adjustment needed.
Some brands contain about 20-30 mgs, which is not a big deal, and if you take it every day no adjustment would be needed anyway.

I asked my cardio if I could start taking Centrium Silver & he said, "absolutely not!" He said it contained Vit K & that would mess w/my INR so I don't take any vitamins except magnesium & calcium w/Vit D.

I take a walgreens vitamin that has full day's recommended allowance of vit. k (i think it 80 or 90 mcg) and have adjusted my warfarin dosage around it. Works well for me and has dramatically helped to stabilize my inr.

This looks like my favorite choice. I love to eat stuff with Vit. K., and would prefer to get it that way as opposed to a tasteless pill. Thanks to evryone for your help.

I would agree with that Dennis, however, it does seem to stabilize the INR some when there is a consistent dose of Vit K that the pill supplies. I always avoided Vit K containing Vitamins and would sometimes have my INR go higher than my managers would like, because that week I didn't eat as many greens. By adding the Multi-Vitamin with Vit K, I haven't had that problem. I still eat PLENTY of delicious Vit K foods, but I don't get the bouncing around of the INR.

Just a thought

Another dingbat that doesn't want to adjust the coumadin for the vitamin. I can't take much more of this NO KNOWLEDGE from the pros crap anymore.

Dennis, Christy is right on the money. A vitamin with 25% or even 35% K actually can help stabilze your overall INR. It's weird, but it works.

I really think they'd be better off never mentioning Vit K and just adjust people based on their diets and what they know at the time of dosing. Far too much crap is being hinged on Vit k and it really isn't that much of an issue unless your eating 3 or more times the RDA of it.
