This is shaping up to be a big time.

Indeedy it is.

If it wasn't the same weekend as a meet I'm going to in St Louis that weekend, I'd be there...I LOVE TN ... especially, of course, Nashville!

Smoky Mountain Picture...Come one, come all!

Hey everyone!

Here is a picture we took today in Greenbrier in the Smoky Mountains. It was a great place to swim! My granddaugther just kept jumping off the big rock on the left. Man the water is COLD!! Grandma shivered just getting her toes wet! LOL! Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I understand that chimps love cold water! Maybe we can gather enough members to throw him in a cold creek and get his uncensored response!;):p:p

Hey everyone!

I live about 20 miles from where the reunion is. If anyone would like to come to the reunion and save a few bucks you are welcome to stay with myself and my husband. We have an extra bedroom. We'll leave the porch light on for you...

Also was wondering if anyone would like to have a cookout on Saturday night? We could make it sort of late evening that way it wouldn't interfer with anyone's day plans. My husband and I would absolutely love to host the get-together since you guys are like family. I totally understand if you guys would rather spend the time seeing stuff however. There is lots to do in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. You will also be about 35 to 45 miles away from Cherokee, N.C.

My husband and I actually spent the day yesterday in Cades Cove in the Smokies. It is an 11 mile driving loop where you see old cabins, churches, cemeteries, gristmill, etc. It is full of deer, turkey, bears, etc. There are also a couple of really nice hikes back there. We hiked to Abram's falls. Without much rain here in Tn. the falls were really low but still beautiful. We saw probably a hundred deer, two bears and several turkeys. It was a wonderful day. I highly recommend you visit Cades Cove while you're here.

Anyway you all let me know if you would like to stay with us or if you think the cookout is a good idea.

Hugs from Tn.!

Dah, Jane, I guess if I'd paid more attention to your location, & this post, I would have known that YOU would know the elevation there better than anyone?? :)

And that is a beautiful picture you posted! :)

Elevation shouldn't be a problem

Elevation shouldn't be a problem

Hey Norma and other Southern Reunioners...

Elevation should not be a problem with those of you that might want to know. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are not in the mountains per say. They are at the foothills or edge of the Smoky's. In October most of the allergens will be gone for a short while...there may be some ragweed left. The weather can be really hot or really cool. Bring a mixture of garments. We have been in a drought situation here for the last two years but the air is still very humid! That may present problems for any of you that have a difficultly breathing.

Also if anyone does decide to fly into Knoxville I would be more than happy to pick you up and take you to Pigeon Forge. Once in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg you can take a trolley (really inexpensive) instead of driving. Traffic is an absolute nightmare during the fall season.

There are so many things to do in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg...you have many, many outlet stores, there is Dollywood (really nice during Fall Festival), there are several area golf courses, numerous putt-putt places, several dinner and show theaters, craftsman village, the MOUNTAINS, etc...

Greetings ... our get together is right around the corner and I for one am getting more excited to closer we get ... I have an idea that we will have somewhere around 6-7 couples so we will have a good crowd ... If you are coming please drop me a quick pm or post ... There is absolutely nothing planned, we are flying by the seat of our pants but there is a lot to do and see and we will not run short of things to do ... I for one plan on relaxing and jawing around the coffee pot:) ... Looking forward to meeting everyone!!!!

I still may try and make it over there for the day on Saturday. We have a cabin in the Tenn. mountains and I may be able to swing over to Gatlinburg for the day. My sister works at an antique shop there on the main street in "downtown" Gatlinburg. Gatlinburg is our old stomping grounds...my husband and I both went to UT Knoxville (he grew up in Knox.) and spent way to many Saturdays and Sundays driving up to Gatlinburg and spending the day in the Smokey Mountains.

For those of you who are flying, I would recommend getting a car. Yes, the traffic in Gatlinburg can be a headache, but there are so many pretty areas around there that you won't get to see if you don't have a car.

As we get closer, if I think I'm going to make it over on Saturday, I'll pm one of ya'll to figure out how to catch up with ya'll. If I don't get to make it over there, ya'll have a great time.

Kim

I wish I could be there. :( I'm having kitchen renovations done though, so I know I couldn't be gone for a long weekend, at that time. :( I know you will all have fun! Nothing better than meeting fellow members. Take plenty of pictures!

Cooker, my husband and I will be there all day Saturday. We're staying all night with one of his co-workers who lives 45 minutes away or so. Just tell us where to meet y'all for the coffee. Janie has my cell number. :)

Ok...If I show up in Gatlinburg, am I going to be the only one spouseless? Not that I really mind, but there is no way my husband can come because our son has soccer all weekend. Just want to know now if I'll be the only "single".
If I come there, it will be on Saturday. Are there any specific plans at this point for everyone to get together on Saturday?
