My mvr, maze proedure is set for aug 6th angigram aug 5th. Dr shemin will perform robotic mvr and maze. He said i should be in ronald reagan medical center 4 to 5 days. Looking forward to feeling better. Dave

Hopefully repair. Dr shemin said they would do a tee after they put me under, and make the final decision then.

Yep its coming up real quick. Thats ok with me. I'm not good at waiting.

Yup, just get it done. I waited until my cardio took away my driving license, and my family and friends were sick of seeing me on the couch or in a wheelchair. The fear is worse than the surgery.

Hi Dave,

I had robotic MVR in Feb as well as a maze or ablation (unsure of difference). Operation made a big difference. I am sure yours will go well. Best wishes.

Wishing you the best on your upcoming surgery. The waiting part is the hardest; hopefully time flies for you & all will be behind you!

Keeping you in my prayers! :)

Hi Thanks for the best wishes. How long did your recovery take? How long before you could drive? I,ve got a race I.d like to go to in October. Just not sure I'll be able to.

This is the website I found today concerning the daVinci robotic procedure. I just found out today from my surgeon that I am going to have this type of surgery on August 28. I was very intrigued about it and excited, it sounds like it will be so much easier for recovery and he says that it is better for him as he can see the valve much more clearly and his work is of higher quality because of it. He was also on our local news with a small clip showing how it works. If you google Mark Bodenhamer there should be a site come up that is on newsok.com and you can watch the video.
This is the other information that I found that describes it in more detail: http://davincisurgery.com/procedures...t_seminar.aspx

Hi I also am excited about robotic valve repair. Dr. Shemin will perform mine on aug 6 th at UCLA, just one week away. I'm looking forward to feeling better, as I'm sure you also are. Dr. Shemin just did a heart transplant on my good friend of many years. So I feel very confident with him. He told us that being able to see 3 inches away from the repair, compared to 3 feet was a huge advantage with the robotic surgery! Good Luck I'll keep you all informed of my progress.

How cool

How cool

is that - robotics! The evolution of the technology used in heart surgery is nothing short of amazing. Looking forward to hearing how you are doing pre and post-surgery. Especially in your recovery time.

Hi I know you had robotic mvr and the maze surgery done. My question is when you got home how did you sleep? Did you sleep in a recliner? Or were you able to sleep in your regular bed? With the incisions in your side(ribs). Was it difficult to sit and lay down? Thanks for your input Dave

Well I'll be getting up at 3 am tomorow morning, to make the trip to UCLA. Check in time is. at 5:30am they are set to do a angiogram at 7am. Then do the pre opps later in the day. Wednesday morning at 7am they'll prep me, then 9am robotic mitral valve repair. And a maze. Then I'm looking forward to a quick recovery and feeling better. If I can just get through this evening without a panic attack. Thanks for all the support. Dave
