Superbob and Cooker, I didn't mean to heap up shame as coals on your heads! It worked though.:p

Cooker, you're doing fine. Remember the weight loss buffer you provided yourself before you kicked the "habit." You are to be commended for your efforts in weight loss and in ditching nicotine.

Superbob, glad your knee is showing some improvement. We feel for you. You too are to be commended for your weight loss efforts, you've done great you know.

Dina, weigh to go!!

Sumorunner, thanks for the comments, include the initial "wise" crack.

KhawkK, what is "daddy pop?" Being July 4th, I thought maybe it was a liquid explosive!

Ton, yes we're still shooting off fireworks. Probably more than ever. Sad thing is the noise rattles me and I need a good strong Starbucks coffee to calm me down.

NOW FOR THE WEIGH-IN:

CINDY:

Starting Weight: 170.4
Last Week: 151.6
This Week: 150.6
Weekly Change: -1.0
Total Loss: -19.8

WISE:

Starting Weight: 204.8
Last Week: 184.2
This Week: 183.8
Weekly Change: -.4
Total Loss: -21

Thanks and great job you two........heaping coals....LOL...:D:D

If you gain a few pounds because you quit smoking then so be it ! I was a pack a day + Marlboro Reds for about 17 years, tried to quit a million times and never got past a day or two. Ultimately I used the Nicotine patches to handle the cravings but the bottom line for smoking is that you have to WANT to quit, if you don't you will find an excuse to backslide (stress, weight gain, blah blah blah). I think thats all bunch of hooyie, just a convienent scapegoat. Once you really commit to it you will succeed. Once I was ready I found it to be pretty easy to do. Im 10 yrs+ now removed from my smoking days and while I still remember how pleasant a smoke could be from time to time I know those days are behind me. I put on 20 lbs when I quit but I'd rather be 20 lbs heavier and smoke free for sure !

Keep up the good work !

I made myself go to the Fitness Center last night, and after a very difficult 35 minutes on the elliptical, I spent an enjoyable hour in the pool.
And it helped!
I'm back to my before vacation weight and down a pound.
Cooker, you've now done the right thing back-to-back . . . first you kicked the nicotine gum and second you decided to weigh-in and report this morning. Way to go, Chimp!;):p
It's great to read that Jack, Dina, Wise and Cindy have lost weight this week, and I'm sure anyone who gained will be back on track by next Friday.

Happy 4th!

Don't them hot coal ashes become us, Cooker? :p And look you got a compliment from The Ref, no less! :)

Way to go yourself, Ref! One pound down is great progress.

And go Redbirds tonight in Saint Louie against the Cubbies on the Fourth of July!-- that's as good as it gets. ;)

We were in St. Louis this week, and the hot news on the radio was the big battle to be waged on the 4th . . . you know, the battle between good and evil!;):p I'm glad Cort's out of town and unlikely to read this!:D:D

No. No. No. That's what Masterpiece Theater is for.
You have the right idea with that one. I especially when they show my personal favorite....The Sherlock Holmes played by the late Jeremy Brett.
In my opinion he was the ultimate Holmes(even better thn sleeping)

In a couple of weeks I'll be back. My scales are still covered with a drop cloth and our home is in disarray. I'm off steroids and my life will soon be more normal with the home addition just a few weeks from completion. I'm ready for the quiet again. I'm so glad some of you are still shedding the pounds and doing so well. It really does give me hope!

Ok the Chimp is back on track.....staying in his WW points and walking... I will forgo the walk today....I have spent three hours digging and planting with DW in charge of what goes where...." you just dig where I tell ya and we will get along just fine":D:rolleyes:;).....I planted 2 Hibiscus, 2 Caladiums (sp?), an herb garden and 2 ten gallon Weeping Pussy Willow trees (can't wait for those to bare fruit:D:D:rolleyes:;)).....The Chimp is whipped but it's a good tired

I want my Mulligan! Friday a.m. pre-holiday feed I was down a pound YEAH! Then I ate cheese and crackers and bread. Then, to top it off, I bought a new WW scale b/c my ten-year-old scale had problems with the ON switch. Just by changing scales I gained 4 pounds, and that's not counting what I ate this weekend.
So...the device may change but the poundage will still be tracked....
Here's hoping I shake off enough of my sins to break even by this week's weigh in.

7/2006 Start (adjusted for scale change): 173
Official WW Goal, achieved 3/2007: 136
Friday weigh in: 130
Maintenance Goal: 129
Current: 131.9
net loss: 41

I should have accepted the Mulligan when it was so graciously offered because I went so far overboard this weekend it'll take me weeks to climb back on.

Our week's "vacation" resulted in a 1.5 pound weight loss for me. I'm sure I'll find it again this week though.

Geeeeez you make me sick;).....the only time I ever lost weight on vacation was a trip to Costa Rica.....it was not a pretty sight

Congratulations on the loss.....:)........damn...the hot get hotter:p:p

The "vacation" consisted of painting, deep cleaning, pulling weeds and spreading mulch, running around after my Avatar. (We were helping our son and DIL get their new old house into moving in condition.)

My Wii Fit asked me where I had been for 9 days. Darn thing is getting sassie!

I'm glad I am not the only one who has added a pound or two this week...and we Aussies didnt have any reason to celebrate...

Congrats on the quitting smoking Cooker!!!

Congrats on the quitting smoking Cooker!!!

I quit 9 years ago-and now the only place I ever smoke is at night in bed:eek:
I mean...I don't actually smoke...I just dream that I'm smoking! Isn't that weird? It usually happens when I dream about my late sister, or someone else that was a smoking buddy. They offer me a cigarette...and I feel really guilty in my dream after I realize what I'm doing, but when I wake up, I'm relieved that it was only a dream. Hey! Maybe I could start dreaming about eating my favorite foods too...that way I could have my cake and (sorta) eat it too!

Anyway, I had a pretty good week myself. We even took in the traditional 4th of July parade. I decided to pack a pic-nic lunch to take with, making sandwiches with my "diet" buns and lo-fat ham. I bought a multi pack of individual serving size snacks that were called "Smart Snacks" that included baked Ruffles, pretzels and Sun Chips". I added some baby carrots and some "Fiber One" caramel bars, and a few bottles of spring water of course. That way, we had a very good lite lunch...and didn't have to go to the church grounds for their hamburgers or hotdogs or chicken dinner that they put on after the parade every year. I think that helped me survive the 4th.

I ended up losing 2.2 lbs this week for a grand total of 27.4 lbs!!!:D That means I got to my WW "target weight"...and received my bronze key chain tonight. I was pretty excited about that. I have now lost over 10% of my total starting weight. Next week, I should get a charm with a 16 on it to put on my key chain. I get that just for sticking with the program for 16 weeks.:)

If you're curious as to how the rest of my week went, you'll have to check out my blog. There is a link below.

Hey Cooker, quitting nicotine is the hardest things I ever did. I smoked for 35 years. INDULGE! No guilt. You can always loose the weight. Fight on!
