I was on vacation the day of my actual "valveversary" but I like to remind folks that there are a lot of us out here doing well long term. My St. Jude was 14 on April 19th. When it was implanted in 1994, it replaced a Bjork-Shiley that was implanted in 1980. A normal, long and successful life is very common on coumadin as well as with a replaced valve of any type.
Things are much easier today than in 1980 or even 1994. After all, you newer guys have VR.com to see you through and so many choices of valves, types of surgeries and great surgeons.
We sure live in a great world even with the tough things. Be happy to be alive.
