Hi All,

Feeling really pretty good concidering it is only 12 days. I do get a little short of breath when I do the stairs or when I walk a slight bit faster. Is this normal or something to be concerned about? I will see the cardio for the first time Thursday. I am doing fine on the breathing exerciser. I walk about 4 blocks 3 times aday. I am also quite mobile, no real pain at all. The incision is starting to itch and feel really strange at times, but that is about it.

Thanks a million

xoxo

I had my surgery on March 14, and I still get short of breath when I try to do something too physical (farming). It gets better but it takes time. I am glad to hear you are feeling good. :)

Absolutely normal. I think your working it too hard though. Back off a block a day for a little while yet unless your tolerating well now.

Yep, you sound normal to me too.

You may want to put some Gold Bond around your incision NOT ON IT. The ointment help me out.

Take Care and maybe slow down a tad :)

Kathy, you sound wonderful & I'm sure you're glad to be back home! There is definitely no place like home, huh?! :) :)

Don't over do it, even when you're feeling at your best! Just take it easy & give yourself time to heal. You will be going a hundred miles an hour before you know it! :)

Take care!

Kathy, Great for you. I had my surgery the same day and am getting around no where near that much. I am not in hardly any pain from my chest either. I wish you continued success on your recovery.

On week number 3 for me Kathy. Ya, it sounds normal. Just like everyone says don't over work ur self even it doesn't feel like it. I think i was on day 12 when i decided to clean the vehicle, nothing major just wiping and cleaning. I was a little sore the next day.

Listen, listen, listen...

Listen, listen, listen...

It sounds like you are doing really well. Just listen to what your body tells you about the exercise stuff.

If walking around the block four times a day feels good, and your body is telling you it's okay, walk around the block four times a day. If you're pushing things too hard, your body will tell you to slow down. You just have to make sure you're listening to what it's telling you.

Recovery is a very individual process. You have to figure out what pace you can handle and use common sense to stay within your limits.

I don't agree (in general) about backing off

Hello -

What I found to work for me when I got tired was to make the intensity a little less but the duration or number of sessions be more.

I found that walking hills at first was hard so I did longer sessions walking on flats. Still walked hills a little.

I believe in pushing myself - not to the point of pain or exhaustion but beyond what is "comfortable." I believe that you need to stress your body some to make it heal and grow. Be sensible but don't baby yourself.
