Hello!

November 28th 2006 I had my valve repaired for the second time. First time was back in April 1982.

One of the main reasons I had the last surgery was dizziness and getting easily tired.
The surgery was a success according to both my surgeon and cardiologist
who looked at me two months after. I was still tired and dizzy. My heart was not the cause they told me. I might not even need another OHS.

Last week I was at the hospital where a new cardiologist looked at my heart and said that though there was no change since my operation,I might need a new OHS to get a mechanical in a few years.
I had a cycling test and put out 350 watts, which he thought was very good.

I am dizzy every day and often tired. The cardiologist said it was because of my heart. I have a little leakage and the valve opens and closes slower than a healthy one he said.

He wanted me to come back in a year to check me out again.

I find it strange that doctors say so widely different things.

What keeps me motivated to live is my girlfriend and beautyful son who turned 1 year today.

Congratulations on your son's first birthday. The years will fly by now!

My personal opinion - if your symptoms are related to your heart and they are affecting your life, I'm not understanding the wait and see process. What would your choice be? Would it be better if you can wait, or do you want to get it done and move on? Just some things to think about.

BEFORE having a 3rd OHS, it would be REALLY GOOD to pin down the cause of your dizzyness and tiredness.

Have you been examined by a good Internal Medicine Doctor? That's where I would start, in conjunction with your Cardiologist and Surgeon (and maybe other Cardio's and Surgeons for multiple opinions).

I'm a Big Believer in Multiple Opinions,
especially before undergoing a third surgery!

Welcome back, Oslo73. I remember you from when you were around here for your last surgery in 2006. Congratulations on your son.

I agree with Al. You should get multiple opinions to make sure the tiredness and dizziness are heart related and a third surgery is necessary. Best wishes and good luck.
