I woke up late and forgot to weigh this morning. I refuse to weigh in the evening. So, you will have to wait until tomorrow morning. I know that the suspense is driving you crazy!

I might eat a whole pot of Cooker's beans tonight to get rid of the excess roughage!

Loaded with fiber!!! and who said Chimps aren't musical :p ....We will await your post with great anticipation :D

I kind of started up with my exercise again after my third synvisc knee shot. But I haven't lost or gained in ages. :( Having a very emotional week (my 88 year old father with Dementia is becoming combative and needs psychiatric in-patient assessment....I'm just close to tears every day...it's like he is being erased.....where has he gone). So of course a box of Costco chocolate chip cookies was in order! Can't do anything small....no.....has to be a TUB of cookies!!

Anyway, I know I've been more like the person with the big "L" on their forehead since I"m not around here much......instead of one of the cool losers!!! I"ll try to get back on top of things after JURY duty next week!! BLAH!!!!

Been making salads for lunch. Really wanted something crispy crunchy like a crouton and so took some of those thick hard crunchy mega-fiber crackers (the European type ones) and broke them apart on top. they absorb the salad dressing really nicely and actually tasted good. A great source of fiber.

Well, that's all folks. Do better than me!!!!

Marguerite, I'm so sorry about your dad. My mom died died at age 85 of Parkinson's dementia. She went through the inpatient evaluations and stays and there was so little anyone could do. We all felt so helpless. There were days we saw glimpses of who she had been but at other times she needed to be sedated because she could actually be dangerous if she wasn't. I've had jury duty a few times and for the most part I found it very interesting. I hope if you get picked for a jury you get an interesting one. I know you would be a really good juror.

Well, my restart weight two weeks ago was 179. Last week I didn't record my weight since I was having some fluid problems and I know it was up. Today I weighed 177 so I am down two lbs. At least it is the right direction.

Thanks, Betty!! I'll let ya'll know if it is a glamorous case of any kind! Dropped my dad off this afternoon for a 10 day stay....he was in good spirits. The staff was amazing there. So many different kinds of hospitals... so many wonderful staff people. I am always amazed at the dedication and professionalism and kindness from these strangers.

Time to go plan some losing behavior now!!! ;)

I weighed - down 1 to 146. For lunch I celebrated by having a buffalo chicken sandwich at Hooter's, so I'm probably up to 200 now!

I am a little late but I did weigh on Friday before Cooker had opened up this weeks account. I am down the 3 pounds of excess blubber that had made me feel bloated me all week...so now I just have my normal fat left to shift.

I heard an interesting interview on the radio last week about how our bodies have a memory of our typical weight and tend to hang on to this so we dont starve and fade away to nothing. Apparently it takes 3 months to get this memory re-programmed....might explain why some of us are stuck at certain weights.

Marguerite
.... I'm sorry about you dad....Life can be hard at best sometimes and the curves it throws can get us side tracked on other things to say the least....I eat stress away too, or try to....Hang in there you are in our thoughts and prayers.......Tom

Old Age Sucks

Old Age Sucks

I will keep up with you all, and I admire all of you who are making progress, but right now I doubt how much more progress in weight loss I will make in the near term. Tonight, heading down the stairs to crate up the puppy, something went snap, crackle, and pop in my right knee, and I can hardly put any weight on it at all now without awful pain. Lord knows what I have done to it, but I doubt I will be able to do much hiking until it heals itself or the sawbones types do their work on it. I am doing my best to take care of my son's pup as a result of his family's move, but I think I have stressed my body to the breaking point (no fault of the pup's of course). I love walking so this really sucks. Without exercise, I can't really lose weight because I have to have a certain intake to keep blood sugar in control.

Old age sucks, but it is better than the alternative, as they say.

It's late and I just remembered to...uh...fess up; I apologize for not reading the rest of the posts--I'll catch up tomorrow. I'll just confess my 3.5 pound gain and head off to bed. I spent the week in Mexico and, despite four days of sailing lessons and one day of food poisoning, I managed to gain! But, I'm back on the straight and narrow and will promise to be a loser again this week! Good night all.

Bob - Hope you get the Kryptonite cure soon. It sucks to have a hurt knee!

It must be knee season. Be sure to put some ice on that. If you have torn something then it will probably not heal on its own very well. I found that the last time I twisted or did whatever I did to my knee, the whole knee froze up. It was so painful. As the days progressed, I realized that it was not the knee completely, but that all the muscles had frozen around it and were in significant pain. The pain spread out much like a bruise would. I think if I'd realized that the pain was mostly coming from the tight muscles (apparently those muscles will freeze up protectively) I would have done more to gently massage or stretch them abit. Can you do some Advil?

If it is determined that it is just arthritic stuff, please look into those SynVisc knee injections. They are wonderful.....for me, anyway. They are a cushioning agent. Very expensive, unfortunately, but they last me almost a year. A series of 3 not too fun shots. But worth it! I always take Xtra strength Tylenol before I go in for the shots so they don't make me wince too much.

Hope you're okay. Keep us posted.

:) Marguerite

Oh, PS....Thanks Tom!

3.5...is that all....I budget 10 for vacation.....I think you did GREAT!!! And you know it it come off pretty quick....Sounds like a nice trip:D

First of all, Superbob, I'm SO sorry to hear about your injury. :( I'm sure your super powers will be returned to you soon. Do not worry one bit about anything other than getting that knee better!

Second of all, I stepped on the scale this morning, just to see (and because I really ought to do it every day due to CHF). And I'm DOWN 2 pounds from Friday!!! I don't have a clue how I did it. Maybe it was all the house cleaning (scrubbing, vacuuming, laundry, etc.) I did this weekend. I knew it wore me out, but didn't expect it to shed the pounds! That sure was a pleasant bonus. :D I haven't seen the scale move downward in months! I just hope it wasn't a fluke and I'll be back up again tomorrow...

HA! There is no amount of money in the world that would get me to clean someone else's house.... I barely manage to do my own! Only reason I did this weekend was because my mom and nephew will be staying with us for a week starting on Saturday and I didn't want my nephew crawling around and coming up harrier than the dog! ;)

I have this problem every week ? Do you? ? After the Friday morning weigh in I pretty much disregard my program for the rest of the weekend:mad: ? I know that is why I have to play catch up all of the time ? If I could treat myself and be done with it I would be ok but I just kind of go nuts thinking I will hit it hard and heavy on Monday ? And if I can post even a pound loss next Friday no one will know ? Well now you know ? I am a closet weekend binger:eek: ? So I need some help, a weekend foot in my butt ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ? I know that if I deny myself all of the time that I am setting myself up for a diet explosion ? I just can?t seem to put on the brakes with out the threat of next weeks impending weigh in ? Lord only knows what would happen without this Throw Down ? I would have to fine some sort of support program

??.Hello, my name is Cooker and I?m a fat ass:p
