Magic. It is lovely to have some more folks joining in.

Cooker. Perhaps we should start a thread that invites "newbies" for the New Year??? The more the merrier!! There may be others who are considering a New Year's Resolution to rid unwanted flab. ??

I'm amazed. I jumped on a scale this afternoon and I'm still down 10 pounds from when we started!!!

Next week I'll be back on the exercise track....have not exercised for 2 weeks. My New Years' resolution is to step up the exercise and really get cracking on losing those next 40 or 50 pounds.

Everyone.......ya'll sound pretty darn good!!! But lets all start moving again!!!

Best wishes!

Marguerite

I just put one of my Christmas presents to good use... My mom got me an iPod Nano (the red one- I love it!) and I put together a play list of my music that has upbeat tempos. I took it with me on my walk this morning. It really kept me going at a steady pace. :D This was exactly why I asked for it.

Now I just need to make sure I keep it up. Kind of discouraging today, since I got a migraine while I was out. Don't know if it was the bright sun (forgot to take my sunglasses), the brisk air, the music, or the exercise that did it. Or who knows, I might have gotten it even if I'd stayed home and sat around. Never can tell with migraines! I'm not going to let it stop me, though. I'm sure it was a fluke.

Welcome Magic! We don't allow shame here. We are what we are, and we all have our reasons for being here. So no more explanations needed.

I wasn't going to weigh in this week - I just felt huge, but I just stepped on the scale as I was in the basement - where I keep the scale - putting some things away, with clothes on (not the nekkid weigh-in I usually do) I was 155 with jeans, socks, undies, long-sleeved top and sweater - oh, and had just eaten lunch. So although it's not an official weight - I'm not feeling quite so bad.

The down or maybe upside, - I was putting photos on the digital picture frame I got for Christmas. I was putting on some pictures of our trip to Italy almost 6 years ago. I was in the midst of my success at low-carb eating and looking at those pictures really made me realize I really need to get serious and get back to it. I looked damn good, if I do say so myself. I weighed about 145. So that's what I'm shooting for. So I figure I have about 10 pounds to lose for the goal - doesn't sound like much, but this could be painful.

I have never tried walking to music??.I usually tie a Twinkie to a stick and dangle it out in front of me???.. Like the carrot:D :p :D
Hee, hee! To each his own. :D

You should try the music. If you get music with a good tempo you can walk to the beat and it keeps you going. But never try to walk to slow music. It will just slow you down. :D

I guess "Barry White" music would cause problems too;) ;)

It has been really hard getting back on the scales. But I had an unexpected surprise this morning -- down 2 pounds from the Friday weigh-in even though I had dug into prime rib at Outback the night before. Guess eating a 12-ounce prime rib is better than eating four different kinds of fruit pies, right? :p :D

So I have resumed my food and exercise journal and feel more confident I can get back on track. Without this accountability, I probably would have just let go and quickly regained the almost 20 pounds I have shed since July!

I had intended to walk again today. Alas, it was not to be. Got another migraine. :( Woke up with it, in fact. Hasn't gone away all day. I've barely gotten out of bed (well, I moved to the couch, but that's about it). :( I hope tomorrow turns out better.

I'll jump in

I'll jump in

Haven't posted here in awhile, this seems like fun. I will jump in with what I weighed this weekend.

Height 5'8" (may be less now)
Weight 171 Lbs (packed on 6 lbs this holiday)
Waist 35" (pants are getting tight)

Goal weight 155 Lbs - less weight to carry up a hill on my bike.

Thankfully the holidays are over. I won't have the chocolate temptation as much. It starts with Halloween and keeps going strong until the new year.

Mark, welcome to the funny farm! :p We're a little kooky, but we get the job done. ;)

Oh! I have to say that my hubby annoys the he*^ out of me. Here I am busting my butt to lose some weight and he comes in the other day and says "Huh. I've lost 8 pounds since before the holidays..." He wasn't even trying! Not only that, but people actually asked him "Did you lose weight?" Did anyone ask me? No. It is SO not fair that men lose weight faster than women!

(Note: I do not begrudge any of our men here for their weight loss. Only my husband who did it without trying! :p )

Hey. I SAID I don't begrudge any of you in the throw down. Just the guy who is doing it without effort (my hubby). If you work for it, you deserve it! :D

Mark,
Welcome from a fellow Kentuckian. Capital City residents here. Best wishes on your weight loss goal. I understand about the chocolate; same here.

I weighed this morning. I was ugly. Forgive me if I don't confess. It was a step in the right direction to even weigh. I am really happy for everyone for doing so well. I'm one of those who can gain 5 lbs when everyone else would gain 1 lb., but, in this case, 5 lbs. wasn't all I gained   . I'm either going to be my own worst enemy or my very best friend; time to be a friend to my body.

Our dryer is most likely dead, so we'll probably have to shop for one today. Happy New Year to us. There will be no major stress eating though. We may eat much lighter tonight than we were planning. We have a New Year's Day brunch with our Sunday school class tomorrow, then it's back to discipline.

Happy New Years to all Throwdowners!
