Back in August I posted a question to the forum about the Cleveland Clinic and if people recommended them. My brother had a myriad of problems, including needing a valve replacement, he has HIT (Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia), endocarditis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. He was scheduled for surgery at Beaumont Hospital (Michigan) and at the last minute, they cancelled his surgery due to his blood levels of Heparin.

I asked your opinions about CLeveland CLinic and receivied great responses which I forwarded to my sister-in-law. They decided to go to CC and my brother just had surgery Wednesday. Great success!! He had Dr. Svensson as his surgeon (lucky him), and there were no complications. In fact, he was up and walking on Friday! What a major difference compared to his last surgery 4 years ago.

They also said the hospital staff was awesome, very helpful and seemed to understand the myriad of emotions that go along with surgery.

Just a big thank you to all who responded! As my sister-in-law said on thei patient page, it may be an inconvenience but she HIGHLY recommends CC to all.

God does listen to prayers...our family's have been answered.

So very happy to hear your story. We do truly live in a remarkable world.

I'm so glad to hear that your brother's story has a happy ending.:)
Thanks for taking the time to post an update; it is a day brightner!

Jack,

So very happy to hear that your brother is doing well after this surgery. Give him and his wife our best regards and we hope he'll visit the forum when he gets home. We'd love to hear from the patient himself.

Best wishes.:) :)

I doubt you'll hear from my brother himself, as he is pretty shy. I will encourage his wife to repond however. We expect them back next week sometime. Thanks again!

That's great news-be sure to give them our best wishes and I hope they will join- it is stories like this that give those in the waiting room so much hope!

Wonderful news. Prayers for a smooth recovery for your brother.

Glad all went well with your brother's surgery at CCF. I also had BAVR surgery there in Sept. with Dr. Svensson. As you now know, CCF is one of the best heart hospital's in the world and Dr. Svensson is one of the top heart surgeons in this country.....

Hope the recovery goes as well as the surgery...

sometimes we hear of despair that becomes joy. And then we have tears.

Thank you for giving us the rest of the story. What wonderful news. Blessins.........

I am so happy for your brother in law and his successful surgery and wishing him a continued smooth recovery! I too am considering Cleveland Clinic and my surgeon on choice is Dr. Svensson. I live in Seattle Washington but I consider the inconvenience of travel well worth it to know that I am in competent hands at and the #1 heart surgery center in the US. I have an aortic aneurysm that involves the root and arch, technically a difficult procedure, and I just know that CC is the best place for me! I am looking at surgery very soon as my aneurysm is 5 cm. I just found out a little over 2 weeks ago...seems like an eternity! Thank you so much for sharing your success stories...it does indeed help those of us in the waiting room so much!
My prayers for your brother in law's continued recovery and for you and your family....Thanks again for sharing your story!
