Sorry, I haven't posted for some time. But have been feeling really good!!!
But I have a question that maybe you can enlighten my thoughts on.
I'm about a year and three months post surgery. Up at the top of my incision
I get a heaviness and sometimes a poking feeling. Sometimes the poking feeling has a little pain to it and when you feel the right hand side you can feel a little bit of a bump. Is that my wires or what? Should I mention to the dr. or just let it keep healing if thats what it is. Thought maybe some of you have had something like this. I do go to rehab 3 to 4 days a week. Sometimes I fell it then sometimes nothing. Hopefully you can give me some insight I check the threads but did'nt find anything about this. Thanks for you help.

Yes! After my first AVR surgery I had a wire that constantly poked and hurt. It gradually calloused, becoming less of an issue over time.

My surgeon had been quite concerned because of the gaps in my sternum than he was about the pokey wire thing. I decided, in any case to live with both horrors until my next surgery. (Which came along in a disappointingly short time.)

Best and take heart...

My incision still bothers me a year and a half out, and it has a few bumps, but I can't say I get a poking feeling. If in doubt, ask the doctor.

You can run your finger down the middle of my chest and feel those damn wires. It still grosses me out.

PEGGY!!! Don't even mention it......or I will barf...... I have the same thing.

Can you move your skin from side to side and see them? Real sexy, huh...:(

I have figure 8s. What do you have?

I also can feel the wires as I pass my finger down the sternum, but it doesn't really gross me out. Heh, I'm just happy there was something holding my two sides together after the surgery!!! :D

bumps

bumps

I am 4 1/2 years out and I can feel my wires on the top. I do have a bump and to touch it grosses me out. It feels weird and it is hard to describe the feeling it gives me when I do touch it. I should have had all them taken out not just 3. He did say that I had a really long sternum.

Okay Guys, I just can't bring myself to even to try to find any wires. I can hold small magnetics to my chest, but thats as far as I'm willing to go. NO fishing for wires for me
.

I don't know exactly what is in there and I ain't touchin it...!
When I asked my GP and he touched the middle section, he thought it was very interesting, but I told him to stop or move aside cuz I was going to barf.
It doesn't help that I'm thin....no meat on these ribs...:(

If my GP dared to fine any wires, I would have slapped her.

Don?t know if it was my imagination or not but I swear when I had my last MRI I could feel the wires kind of ?humming?. It was kind of neat.:D I can rub my finger hard up and down my chest and can feel some of them.

I'm just skin and bones and I can't feel any wires. I can feel some bumps but they don't feel like wires. I can't do tricks with magnets either. I'm not complaining but can't figure it out. You don't suppose they use something that desolves now, like my stitches did.
