Have started viewing the posts and threads of this community a couple of days ago, and want to say to all thank you thank you thank you. You have answered so many of my initial questions and put some fears to rest already. I am just starting my journey in earnest now. Up until now it has been all wait and see. Have had Aortic Stenosis for a couple of years, and it has gotten much worse in the last 6 months. Had a cardiac cath the other day and Dr. said it's much worse than the TEE showed, so now we begin.

Am already feeling crappy to begin with, and now this. Hope you don't don't mind being a sounding board but your info. has already been a big help.

Welcome! So glad you found us before surgery and can take advantage of the wealth of information here. Read away on valve selection and pre-surgery and come back for any clarification you may need.

We will get you through surgery and beyond. Sound off, ask questions, be assured.

Welcome to the VR community, Shutterbug. Sorry for the circumstances but glad you found us. Being a sounding board is what we do best.
You'll find much information and support here.

Shuttterbug,

We're here to help.

What you are experiencing is very common... The realization that cardiac surgery is a must in your life can be quite traumatic. I remember those feelings all too well.

However, the documented statistics and patient success stories should help you see that the long-term positive from heart valve surgery greatly outweighs the short-term negative (surgery, pain).

:)

Take care,

Adam

The great news is, after your surgery and recovery you are going to feel SO much better!

hello

hello

hello:D . I am new to this site and I am in the same boat. I am a little younger. I found out I have a severe reg. aortic valve a little over 2 weeks ago:eek: . It started about a month and a half when I went to the doc for a hand rash and when he checked my vitals (listened to my heart) he said wow. . . that's impressive:confused: . He asked if I minded if a colleague listened to it. Not at all, why? After an echo which showed a minor leak that didn't match the noisy heart they scheduled a TEE. Ah Ha! Found it! I am sched for consultation on aug 14. From freak out:eek: to depression:( to is this real? I love this web site. Hope you are well and want you to know there are others out there. God bless. Seth

Hi, Shutterbug, and welcome to The Waiting Room -- the virtual room in which many of us await our own turns at valve replacement surgery. I, too, await valve surgery due to aortic stenosis, but so far we aren't sure just when.

I'm glad you've found us. Feel free to read, lurk, ask questions, and generally use the community here as an information source and sounding board. There is a wealth of information here, and people are very open about sharing.

Again, welcome, and keep us posted.
