Hello to all! I am Kathy (mybloodrunnethorange) wife. I wanted to let all of you know that Chris is doing GREAT!! It started this am at 5:15 when we had to arrive at the Cleveland Clinic. Chris went back for his surgery at 6:00 and then we got to see him one last time at 6:45. We then had to wait until we heard something. We got news at 8:46 that he was on the heart lung bypass. At 11:30 Dr. Svensson called and said Chris had a hole in his aortic valve. He tried to repair the valve, but was not successful. He then told me that he used the ON-X valve. Chris will be so excited because as you all know this is what he wanted. This is the first time Dr. Svensson has used the valve. At 2:25 I got to go back in ICU and see him. He is doing great!! I am so proud of him, he showed so much courage this morning. He really wanted to make sure I let all of you know his condition. I think he has made really great friends on this forum. Thank you for all of your support and I will keep you informed.

Sincerely,
Kathy (mybloodrunnethhappy)!!!!!!!

This is wonderful news!! Will continue to pray for a smooth and quick recovery.

Peace of Christ,
Don

Thanks for passing on the grat news. I'm very happy for him if they couldn't do the repair he got the valve he really wanted, Lyn

Great News!

Great News!

Thank you for the update, Kathy, you must be sooooo relieved!

It's great to hear good news about Chris, thank you for posting so quickly. It's all downhill from here. Welcome Chris to the other side of the mountain!

All the best to both of you,
Ruth

Congratulations to you and CHRIS!!! I just had surgery on 4/20 and am so glad to be on the other side! You will be surprised how quickly the time will go by and you will have him home before you know it!

The worst thing for me when I woke up from surgery was the THIRST! And they limit the fluid intake and they limit the ice chips. But I thought I was going to DIE of thirst and my mouth was so terribly dry. Remember to follow the advice of the professionals and try to help him stick to what they are telling him, too. My husband was great at being a constant reminder for me. I was so lucky to have him there with me. He is was unusual in that he stayed with me each night. He didn't want to leave me and that was such a comfort to have him there in the middle of the night. But I know that not everyone has that luxury.

CONGRATULATIONS and good luck with his continued recovery!

What great news! I look forward to reading progress reports. Just keep on getting better and better, Chris!

That's great news! I hope he has a smooth recovery. The surgeons at the Cleveland Clinic are great. Gillinov did my surgery in August. The nurses were very helpful and caring. I'll keep you in my prayers. :)

Thanks for taking the time to post, Kathy- I know how relieved and happy you must feel. Give Chris our best wishes for a speedy and uneventful recovery.

Great news.:) ..Thanks for posting.....Tell him I said...GO TIGERS.(Clemson)Hope to hear all good news now..You get some rest, too. Bonnie

Way to go!

I'm just sorry that you folks are only 1 hour away and I cannot come up to meet you. This really disturbs me. Please keep in touch and try to get some rest for yourself, but also, try to be with him as much as possible. I know the nurses are shorthanded and can use all the help they can get.

Thank you for the progress report. I'm so glad to hear everything went well and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Kathy - Very glad to hear the good news about Chris. Help him all you can but get all the rest you can too because your next few weeks might get exhausting. Please tell Chris, "Hello," for all of us here at VR.COM.
