I'm not quite sure what to get put on a Medic-Alert or similar bracelet? Would a paramedic know what a "Ross Procedure" is? Several of the nurses on my ward didn't. Lol.

Any advice, previous experience with this would be welcome. I guess until now the large scar on my chest was indication enough I had had surgery.

In the UK, MedicAlert offer advice on what should go on the bracelet.
Unless you want a bracelet the size of a dinner plate, you're not going to get much info on it anyway. The basic idea is to put the major condition(s) on the bracelet, another level of detail on the wallet card (if you carry it) and the full info available via the telephone.
I posted images of mine in this thread:

That's why i prefer medic alert to the look a like bracelets, you can put heart or valve and since it has a pt id number and a 800 number they call and get all the details that don't fit on bracelets
Justin's just has congenital heart defects which could mean 35 different chds and allergic to angiogram dye, but has a lot of details for the medical personel when they call. He broke his arm and was taken to the hospital by ambulance a couple years ago and the number was forwarded to the er so they had all the details by the time justin got there, lyn

Mine says Mitral and Aortic Valve Replacements. Type 2 Diabetes. On Anticoagulants. That fills five lines. It looks like Ron's except that it is gold and not steel. It hasn't been off my wrist since the day I put it on. My card is my wallet, if they remove that they will then see my cardiologist's business card.

I had asked my surgeons nurse about some sort of ID specifically for when I go mountain biking, there is a real chance I could be injured and unable to speak for myself and I wondered if I should just let them guess what the scar was for or if this would help to inform them. Her response - you're fixed, don't worry about it.

If I were on coumadin that would be one thing but since I have a porcine valve I don't have any condition worth letting them know about. I would imagine a ross would be the same.
