Anyone else using Raytel to get their test strips?
At our last order we had to pay Raytell up front with a credit card before they would ship to us. They said it is a new policy because they are fed up with dealing with the insurance companies and now expect us to fight with the insurance companies to get reimbursed.
Anyone else with this issue??

Dennis:

Who is your insurance with?

Raytel isn't providing enough info with its claims for United HealthCare to process claims. That's what I learned recently.

A Raytel employee told me last summer that they use E1399 (I think that's the DME code) for supplies -- which is what QAS uses. Another company, in Connecticut, refused to use E1399, and UHC covers testing supplies ONLY for diabetics, not for home INR testing.
But seems that the employee who told me that last summer was sadly mistaken.

First I was using Medica, a plan through my wife's school district in Minnesota. In the last 6 months we switched to Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Mexico, where she is currently employed as a teacher. So far no problems in either case.

I talked directly with Luralyn and she said her boss was tired of looking at all those unpaid insurance claims. He told her to get the money up front and let each patient wrestle with their company. This is not an uncommon attitude seen in many firms in medical supply.

I just found diameddirect.com has a box of 48 for $204.28 with free shipping. I always check shipping cost before I order.

Good morning and welcome to valvereplacement.com.

While everyone is trying to save money in these tough economic times, we recommend purchasing instruments and supplies through authorized sources only. In Hemosense's case, only these 4 distributors.

Your certainly welcome to purchase from whoever you wish, but please remember that as far as the forum goes, we recommend authorized distributors only.

Thank you.

Express Medical

Express Medical

I began to experience difficulty with both QAS and Raytel a few months ago.
Trouble finding any body to talk to with any knowledge of home testing and in one case a dramatic overcharge which was resolved with great difficulty and took up a lot of time. One of our contributors referred me to Express Medical Supplies. No problem, talked to a person not a menu, and was charged $199.99 for 48 INRatio2 promptly delivered fresh strips which are working well.We both are on Medicare but have not tried to use them for home testing. Too much red tape.
I don't know if Express Medical takes insurance or Medicare. They require a doctors prescription and will send the strips only to the doctors office.
