Hi all- I am Vince, Bill's son.

Well, Bill went "mountain climbing" this morning and all went well. We just saw him post-op about an hour and a half ago and they said everything went fine.

Just wanted to let you all know that he's OK- thanks for all the support you've given him, it has been great. I'm sure he'll be looking forward to letting you all know how it went.

I'll try and keep you updated the next couple of days.

Thanks again!!

Vince

Hi Vince, Thanks for letting us know that your father came out of surgery and everything went well. Congratulations! The next couple of days will be hard on him but I'm sure he'll be fine. Your father is an extroadinary guy and has become a wonderful member here. I'm glad to hear the good news and will be thinking and praying of him for a speedy and uneventful recovery. All the best to Bill, Connie, you and the rest of the family! God Bless!

Way to go...

I'm glad to hear all is good with your father. Please keep us informed on Bill's post surgery stats. My prayers are still with you and your family. brian:rolleyes:

Vince - Glad to hear that Bill's surgery went well. It will be tough going for a day or two, but then uphill all the way. I was thinking that it would be easy for him because he had breeze in his location name.

Thanks, Vince - can't keep the 'good ol boys' down. Sounds like he did great.

Bill - I see ya up yonder wavin from the mountaintop. Talked to Ross today - he sounds so good and wants to come home in 2 wks but his dr says 4 -

Take care of yourself - God bless

Way to go, Bill!

I'm so happy to hear about Bill. That's just wonderful. You must all be very relieved. Thanks for letting us know.

Bill,

Told ya you would be fine. It must have been the nurse story.

We are so pleased that everything went well. I hope the recovery also goes well. Just remember to get lots of pillows when the recliner gets to be too much.

Walter

Excellent news about Bill...thanks for posting, Vince. The next few days will be uncomfortable (so hard to find a way to lie that doesn't hurt, and moving to a new position hurts!), but that will pass and before you know it your dad will be feeling better and stronger than you can imagine. Go Bill!

Best wishes for an uneventful recovery,
John

Glad to know everything went well Vince. I know your father was pretty anxious over this 'procedure'.

Most likely, he will need some help the first week or two at home but should be able to take care of himself during the day after that. It would be best for him not to be driving until week 4 or so.

Best wishes for a smooth recovery.

Hi Vince,

Thanks for sharing the great news with us. Please keep us posted on Bill's progress.

He'll probably be home around mid-week and feeling considerably better, even though he will still be dealing with some pain and a lot of discomfort. Just wait until you see him at 6 weeks post-op! You'll hardly believe he had the surgery such a short time ago.

re: update

Hello- Vince again....

Thanks so much for the kind words and well wishes.

I was with my dad this morning and he's doing pretty well. He was sitting up in bed, ate breakfast and was in good spirits. Last night, before they had removed the breathing tube (?), we were communicating by him spelling out words in the air. He spelled out, amongst other things....C-A-S-I-N-O..... "you'd rather be at the casino?" He smiled and gave a thumbs up.

He's supposed to get his own room this afternoon.

I passed on your well wishes to him last night. That got another smile and a thumbs up.

Thanks again for all your support. You've been great and I know he truly appreciates it, as do the rest of my family!!!

Vince

I want you to know how much help you have been to Bill with his climb to the summit. Your information and encouragement gave him the insight he needed to quench his thirst for first hand knowledge and inspiration to face his operation. We drove to the hospital at 4:30 a.m. in calm silence until we came to Krispy Kreme. Then Bill said, "I am so hungry". I have told Bill that you have asked about him and the progress he is making. I want to thank you. You are special people. God bless. Bill's wife Connie

Hi Connie and Vince,

SO GLAD to hear that Bill's surgery went well! Sounds like he's on the fast track out of ICU! I hope the rest of his hospital stay is very uneventful, and that he's home (or in the Casinos!) soon and back to normal in no time. Give him a big HELLO to him from me - we haven't yakked much personally on this site, but my heart is with him.

best wishes,
Jennie

Hi Connie and Vince

So sorry I have been incommunicado, but I haven't been able to get to my house as they've ripped up my kitchen, hallway and dining room and are installing tile. They fixed me up so today is the first time we've been allowed back in through the basement, and the first thing I've done is check this site.

So very glad Bill is doing fine--he should be home by now or shortly, I guess. I'm so glad his "mountain climbing days" are finished!! I'm sure it's a relief for all of you. Please give him our regards and let him know that although we've been out of communication, he has been in our thoughts and prayers.

Hi Connie-

How are you and the rest of the family doing through all this? As the wife of my patient, I know how stressful these days are. When Bill gets home, after the first few days, when you will be existing on adrenalin, you'll crash right along with Bill. Emotional stress can sap your strength as much as physical stress.

So, you all take good care of yourselves, you've still got a road to travel when Bill gets home.

Hi all, Vince again....

Saw my dad again this morning, he's doing well. They've got him up and walking. The nurse came in to talk about "The Shower" ;) that Walter told him about, so he's got that to do today. The Doc was talking about him coming home tomorrow. Quite remarkable.

Just wanted to give a quick update.

Vince

Hi all,

Well, just a quick note- my dad's still in the hospital. I guess he had some arterial fibrillation night before last and they want to keep him a couple extra days to monitor it. Apparently this is not an uncommon occurrence- his cardiologist doesn't seem too concerned. I guess they are also going to give him some blood tonight as he's been a little anemic.

Overall, he's still doing well and hopes to be home soon.....

Vince
