Although we have yet not figured out the source of internal bleeding and after a dozen tests and procedures along with 3 transfusions the bleeding seems to have subsided or lessend and my blood count is leveled off finally. I have another procedure tomorrow that hopefully will give us the answers we are looking for. If we find the source (small intestines or stomach) surgery will most likely take place following. If we don't find the source l remain in Hospital another week under observation as This has nothing to do with my Heart or recent open heart surgery that l am not recovered from Although because of the stress and lack of blood pressure put extreme stress on my heart causing potential heart failure. I am very lucky to be alive. My recent heart surgery has made this situation life threatening and visa versa. Thank you for your thoughts prayers msges and inboxes and concerns. I am finally feeling a little better today although very tired. I will keep you posted. I hopefully will be home and living the good life before you know it. This last 6 weeks of my life has been without a doubt the scariest most tramatic painful miserable of my existence and l've been through some ****. ❤

Thank you ! A little daily Daily reprieve. Tomorrow is a new day. I actually saw my Cardiologists and she reassured me this was not my heart valve replacement she was very happy with my Heart and how strong it was after all it got me through all that amazingly in my first 6 weeks post surgery.

Harriet! I am so glad to hear from you. Good news (I guess) that the health problem is not related to your heart surgery. Sure would be nice to know what it is though. Disregard my last pm. Thrilled to get caught up.

Dear Harriet - I'm so pleased - and relieved I must add - to go on forum this morning and see you have posted (it's 8am here in the UK and I just turned my computer on) ! And so pleased that the hospital are working on this hard now, and that your cardiologist says your heart is wroking fine. Let's hope answers come soon and that the medical team get you back up to how you should be so you can move forward and heal well xxx
 
Thank you so much for the update (((((((Harriet))))))) I am so glad the problem is not associated with your heart even though it's frustrating not to yet know what is causing the bleeding. Praying that the answers come and the problem is quickly (and easily) addressed. Holding you close, lady.

I think you may have beaten me in the number of "speed bumps" you hit on your road to recovery. Some of mine were digestive in nature, but did not involve bleeding.

My late mother-in-law several times had "spontaneous" intestinal bleeds. The docs said that sometimes these happen, and subside, with no real way to know their cause. Mom had this several times. Eventually, though, they diagnosed her with diverticulitis and diverticulosis. When things got too very bad, she actually had a temporary colostomy for 6 months (somewhere around age 78 or so), which gave her intestinal tract time to heal. Once it was healed, they reversed the colostomy. She said that those 6 months with the colostomy were one of the hardest parts of her life, but after the reversal, she had her life back.

I hope you don't have to go through all that, but I do hope that you get your life back so you can enjoy the benefits of your newly refurbished heart.
 
Honeybunny thank you for all the love Xx l am feeling much better all things considered although lots of stomach and pain in my left side. I just finished my last test waiting results something tells me lm not going to get my answers Epstns might of just explain the closest explanation l've been given yet !!

Quick update ...
Didn't think l needed to start a new thread!

I'm frustrated as are my team of doctorsand specialists.
Although l have been stable now for several days and my blood count has remained level we have not found the source or reason for the internal bleeding. I have been of warfrin and on heparin drip since the bleed stopped. Now today the will take me off heparin and back on warfrin which at that time except that they will have bleeding again.
They will not release me until they explore this further and find the source. They believe this internal bleed as likely been going on slowly for sometime but slowly and unnoticed. . The game changer is BLOOD Thiners.
So l am being referred for a test in which l swallow a camera and it takes hundreds and hundreds of pictures as it goes through my system.
I will remain in Hospital for several more days!
 
Hi Harriet - so sorry the docs weren't able to find the source of bleeding by today, but good they won't release you till they find it !

I've had one of those little cameras you swallow which takes hundreds of pictures on its way through you ! They're brill ! So clever - the capsule contains lights and camera and transmits the photos to a pack you wear attached which is then anaylsed afterwards. I was so fascinated by this that when I knew the camera would come out I pooped in a bucket so I could retrieve it (and wash it) - why let something like that, which is also very expensive, end up in the sewage farm ! I've kept mine as they can't be reused, it lives on a shelf in our living room, here's a photo of it:

Its actually about the size of a large vitamin or antibiotic capsule.

Actually, I am relieved that they will not release you until they find the source of the bleeding. As many times as different doctors have pooh-poohed your concerns, it's great that they are determined to get to the bottom of this problem, even if it means keeping you in the hospital. And what you said about this being a problem all along but getting worse since you've been on warfarin makes sense since they told you the other day that it wasn't related to your heart.

Are you allowed to get up and move around, maybe step outside for a stroll? Which hospital are you in? I forget.
 
Honeybunny thank you and as much as l would like to be in my own clothes back at home living my life as despite everything that has happened believe it or not lm feeling stronger these last few day and above everything else my heart feels strong .. l can feel it. Never thought that day would come. I am grateful!!! And l am glad they are trying to get to the bottom of it as you said l have had so so many different issues all going on and alot l think was masked by pre surgery heart condition. So many things they just couldn't separate nor could l if l wanna be honest. I will keep you gals posted !
