10 weeks after my surgery, I did 20.9 miles on my bike today. So far, it is coming along better than I expected.
They told me I could give the bike a try after 8 weeks. That first ride was 2 weeks ago today. I rode out for 15 minutes and back for 15 minutes, for about 7.5 miles. It felt okay, but not great. My chest didn't bother me at all.
Every time I've gone out, it's been a little better.
So far, except for a little post-surgery complication that caused me to spend an extra 5 days in the local hospital, the recovery has gone great. For any of you people out there who are worried about what you can do after surgery and when you can do it, you'll improve quicker than you think! So long as we're sensible and take it easy for a bit, we can do as much or in some cases more than we could before the surgery!
Be encouraged!
