Joe had his first appointment after his long hospitalization (31 days). He was such a sick man when we drove over to Albany Medical Center. Severe CHF, severe pulmonary hypertension, severe anemia and kidney failure, plus elevated heart enzymes. He couldn't breathe and had a bluish cast to his skin. He was loaded with fluid in his legs, and abdomen. Liver and spleen were loaded with fluid.
He has made a complete turnaround. He is the best I've seen him in several years. His kidney function is normal, his ascites is gone, he has very minimal edema in his ankles, his color is great, his O2 level is 96 in room air, his blood-pressure is excellent. His blood chemistries are all improved. It's truly amazing and miraculous.
His doctor at Albany Medical Center is Dr. Lawrence Zisman who specializes in CHF, pulmonary hypertension and is a transplant cardiologist. A really brilliant young man. If it wasn't for this doctor's persistence, training and intelligence, Joe wouldn't be here.
The primary culprit in all of this is the pulmonary hypertension. One of the drugs that Joe is on now is a relatively new one for pulmonary hypertension, Tracleer. Plus, Dr. Zisman did a total revamping of all the medicines that Joe is on.
So, life is good. I hope it stays that way.
