A colleague of mine has had a quadruple bi-pass and has a defribrulator fitted, he travels from UK to Mexico every year for several weeks. His travel insurance just stipulates that although he can transit through the US he cannot overnight there.
 
and that life insurance rates would drop after the surgery. Boy, was he wrong. Great surgeon, but not that good with the truth about this one.

I was able to get a reduction in my life insurance premium post-op. It has been 12 years since that surgery, so I am not clear on the timing, but I believe it took a year of two before we were able to get the reduction.

As for medical, I believe most forms are going to ask if you have seen a Dr. in the past 5 years for a heart condition. Well, how many of us do not see one about every year...and at worst case every 2 years. It would be a lie to say "no".
