I try not to burden the forum with too many requests. (As you can imagine, being on a couple of ped heart groups, the prayer requests are frequent and many, but this one really, really tore at my heart. ) I got an e-mail from Colleen, mom of Katie's Michigan heart valve buddy Tommy, requesting prayers for a neighbor's little girl Kate who has a very aggressive form of brain cancer. They have been to St. Jude's with no success and are now at MD ANderson............and are hot having any success either. They are now having difficulty just managing her pain. She is the cutest little girl. I look into those eyes and just can't imagine the suffering that she must be enduring. It's times like this I really have a difficult time with my own faith. But please, pray for this little girl. If you would like to see her picture, please e-mail me. I don't want to post it to a public forum without her mom's consent, but I think it would be okay to e-mail it to you privately. Her mom is crying out for prayers from as many people as possible.
This strikes a nerve for numerous reasons........not just the name Kate (so close to Katie), nor that she is six (Katie turns six this weekend), nor that she is at MD ANderson (which is where my sister died).............but those eyes............those innocent wide-eyed eyes............
Please pray for a miracle. If that is not to be had, then please pray that she not continue to suffer so...........and prayers, of course, for her family to have the strength and the courage to get through this, whatever the outcome.
Colleen's post, in part:
Our household and some of you, have joined us in praying for our neighbor, Kate (pictured below on the left next to her twin brother, Erik, both 6 yrs.) for quite sometime now. Kate has been fighting an aggressive brain tumor since last December, which is now in her spine. The latest update I received from her mom (they are now at MD Anderson in TX,...& were at St. Judes), is not a good one and the doctors have said that the tumor is aggressively progressing and that her pain is becoming more challenging to manage. She asked that we request as many prayers as possible during this very difficult time for all of them.
Please feel free to pass on to any prayer chains that you belong to. Sad hugs. J.
