I swear this is it....or do I just jinx myself saying it....Anyway, I think but couldn't be positive :)o ) that this is going on 8 weeks. Went to the post-op appt for second lung tapping. Everything was great....lungs were incredibly clear and for some reason I had even lost 7 pounds...even on steroids....must be all this walking.....Starting the weaning off of the steriods. The only negative and (what I am wondering is how negative is it?).......I did test positive for internal lupus. What the heck? Doesn't lupus usually run in families? Doesn't lupus usually come with a host of other issues? No one anywhere in my family has it and I don't have anything else going on as far as health issues go. Count myself lucky I guess. The doctor is making me an appt with a specialist...why , I ask you? I am so sick of going to doctor appointments. Geez. My doctor said my ANA levels were only on the first tier which is a good sign. He also kind of asked himself a question, could this be a false positive? Don't leave me hanging doctor. You tell me. Can first tier lupus stay there and never rear its ugly head ever?
I'm trying so hard to keep it boring.........
Thanks again...as always

Well, you don't want your life to get boring, do you? Oh, that's right - yes, boring is good.

I'm thinking these are all questions for a good rheumatologist. My guess is lupus is like any other disease - it runs from asymptomatic to bad.

Can't help ya except for good thoughts and prayers.

Hi Debbi!! I had two miscarriages before I had my two children, and my ob ran blood work after the second one. He said my ANA titer was 1:160, which is above normal. He put me on baby aspirin for my next two pregnancies and did not have any more problems. He said I could have a high titer like mine and not have lupus, and what I have read on the net seems to confirm this. I have not had any health issues with this-at least none that I am aware of. I do have redness on my face which can be a lupus characteristic, but a dermatologist told me it is more like rosacea. Anyway- good luck and keep us posted on your visit to the specialist!!:) Debbie

I know next to nothing about this, but I do see that some form of lupus can be brought on by certain medications, and goes away when those meds are discontinued. Just one possibility. Hope all goes well for you.

Rob............

Rob............

The med I was on for years was a diuretic - triamenterene - and is one med that is associated with lupus. What is the half life on these drugs anyway? I have been off of it for probably close to 18-24 months...something like that. Seems like enough time should have passed for it to be out of my system. In a way it kind of makes sense....enough of it still there to give a detectable reading, but not enough to cause symptoms. What an ephiphany, but probably completely unfounded.
