Mary went into surgery at 7:15 this morning. They were able to do port access and a repair. They were done with the surgery around 11:30 am and by 12:45 pm she had the dreaded tube out. Everything went very smoothly and she looks great.

Thanks for the update. I am sure Mary will sail through her recovery!

Tell Mary that I will be calling her surgeon's office in the next day or two for an appointment for my husband. I talked to Mary about 2 weeks ago about her upcoming surgery. Glad it's behind her now.

Update

Mary is doing really good. Finally made it out of ICU today at 3 pm. It was only that long because the hospital is so busy they had no rooms available. They were ready to get her out first thing this morning because they needed the room in ICU.

The worst part for her so far is that she has been nautious off and on. I think it was the morphine and they took her off that this morning.

Phyllis, sorry I didn't mean she had all the tubes out yesterday. The "dreaded tube" was the intubation tube. They had that out at 12:45 and she has no memory of it, which is what she wanted. She got more tubes out today, but still has the drains in her incisions. I'm sure they'll come out tomorrow.

So far so good.

Thanks so much for the update, Sherri. I hope now that she is in the step-down unit that she gets to walk a little more and that should help getting the morphine out of her system as well. Please tell her how much we are all rooting for her and wishing her an easy recovery.
