I have been helping with a cat rescue program in Dallas-Fort Worth TX for a number of years. The previous leader died 3 years ago, so we've had to re-invent the program (dfwpurebredrescue.org).

I've fostered one cat (Russian Blue) and her daughter. Our "house guest" right now is a flame point Himalayan Persian pulled from Fort Worth's city shelter. Name: Freddie (as in Freddie the Freeloader). Like all Persians, he's very sweet. I shaved him down again & bathed him last week, and he never hissed or growled.

This weekend I received a wonderful update letter from someone who adopted a Persian from us at a cat show. She has another cat, named Pete, and an 8-month-old puppy.

Here's part of her letter:

"I adopted Connor last August at the cat show in Waco. He adjusted wewll and is doing great! His fur has grown back also! ... We have moved into our new home and the boys (Pete & Connor) have a room of their own. We are still getting it together. We have replaced the carpet with tile, we have pictures up and even a cute toy box for all of their toys. We are in the process of getting them a cat walk put up around their room. Next on our list will be a cat fountain so they will have fresh water at all times. ..."

When I die, I want to come back as this woman's cat. :)

Hi Catwoman

I truly do believe that there is a VERY SPECIAL place in heaven for those who rescue and/or foster animals. Isn't it absolutely wonderful to hear such great stories from the new homes!!! A cat room---wow, that's nice. We went out and bought a motor home for our dogs and cat......of course, we're still paying it off and are down to only two dogs. We had to put my scooter cat down last week at the age of 17+ because of advanced renal failure. We were "watering" him for months.....and I'd do it all over again if I could. I just picked up his ashes today.....he'll move with all the rest of us whenever that is and will go in my or my hubbys casket with the boys. I know people think I'm nuts, but I really don't care!!1

Keep up the great work.

Evelyn

How nice to get feedback on your efforts.

And this reminds me - you are supposed to post a photo of one of your Persians shaved down!!!!!!

Catwoman, my little sister also rescues cats in Dallas-Rockwall area. She gets a call and runs to get her new babies. Feeds them bottles every 2 hrs (she also has a job outside her home). Her hubby helps out. When they are ready for a home she tries to find one if she can part with them. She now has 12 - all ages, colors, personalities. You might even know each other. Her name is Nancy and she's six feet tall. Couldn't miss her height.

btw, my Penelope looks like your avatar kitty except she is short haired. Bill (our lawyer we haven't heard from in a while also had a cat with that pattern). I see cats with the same pattern all over the place. It seems it's becoming a pattern all its own. The white chest and stomach with the tabby topping it off.
