Just spotted this on the BBC's RSS feed. For those of us with AF it looks to be potentially good news.
It works rather like an ECG, so is intelligent and isn't supposed to zap unnecessarily. Rather than being attached to the heart itself, it fits on the chest just under the skin, and can be fitted using a local anaesthetic.
