Two years ago I participated with a group of home monitor users testifying to the usefulness of home monitoring to representatives of OHIP. We were a large group lobbying to have home monitors included under OHIP. I haven't heard how successful we were. Home monitors are offered to every mechanical valve recipient upon hospital discharge. This info might help your friend. My XS is several years old now and was paid for by myself. Strips are 100% tax deductible. A nice little savings fund.
