Okay to Cort and other Cubs' fans out there, congratulations! (And this is from a Cardinals' fan!) :)

Go Cubs! Make the Central Division proud and go to the World Series and win it. Remember, a certain other team from the Central squeaked in last year, and then wound up winning it all, confounding all the "experts." :) :) :) Always fun for the underdogs to win. If it's the Yankees or Red Sox you beat in the Series, that would be all the richer.

Gosh, I guess I'm petty and small,  just like the Cub fans were a few years ago when the White Sox won the World Series. Being a White Sox fan, I just can't get real excited yet. Maybe if they make it to the Big One. I think I'll want them to win then.

*grins*

Thank you, Bob :).

I've heard several references to the Cardinals WS win last year ... especially with the record they had going INTO the playoffs.....

Still ... I'm not all that excited either ... guess I'm not convinced we'll win any games in the playoffs.....

Guess we'll see ;).

*sighs*

...and they didn't :(.

In mid-April 2005 [a few months after the Boston Red Sox stunned the New York Yankees coming back to win the ALCS 4-games-to-3 from a 3-0 DEFICIT ... and SWEPT the World Series from the pesky St Louis Cardinals], I told a then-co-worker, a Chicago White Sox fan, to mark my words ... the Chicago White Sox would be World Series Champs that year. That prediction was, obviously, correct, as the White Sox swept the Houston Astros.

Likewise, just as I predicted, the Chicago Cubs are out of the playoffs this year. Duh!

*rolls eyes*

NO hitting and NO pitching at ALL in the playoffs ... so unlike the last couple weeks or so of the regular season.... But, that's not all that surprising ... seems to happen every time the Cubs are in the playoffs.... I heard Ron Santo say on the air a few times that the Cubs players were trying hard, but it sure didn't look like that to me...especially given their high salaries.

The good news about this for me, a Cubs fan, is that the Cubs keep their streak of proving me correct going. The Cubs will not have a winning season (defined by their owners as winning the World Series) until the Tribune Co no longer owns them ... and Chevrolet [sorry for the profanity] is no longer a sponsor. Period. I haven't been wrong for over 20 years...and I know of only ONE way to prove me incorrect ... and that will not happen this year.

Since EX-Chicago Cubs first basement Mark Grace (currently a broadcaster for the AZ Diamondbacks, with whom he won the World Series against the New York Yankees in 2001) was behind the goat and Bartman references/images at Chase Field earlier this week, GO COLORADO ROCKIES (or, if Philadelphia wins that series ... GO PHILLIES)!

And, for the American League ... GO CLEVELAND INDIANS!

Sorry Cubbies

Sorry Cubbies

It is unfortunate that the Cubbies were in the way of my D-Backs.

My D-Backs are shocking the world once agin - who are these young kids and what are they doing in the 2nd round??

Go Snakes!!!:D :D :D

As I have said a time or two thousand :) , I am a Cardinals fan. But both the Rockies and the D-Backs have been fun young teams to watch this postseason. Should be a good NLCS. Being an NL fan, I will root for either one of them against the AL team (probably the Red Sox) in the World Series. Been some good baseball on the tube this October.

Indeed. Too bad those of us without cable/dish/etc. can't see any of 'em ... except on newscast highlight reels.

Ah, well.

Colorado DID sweep Saturday night ... so that's awesome news. They've won 17 of their last 18 games ... absolutely remarkable.

Red Sox took care of the Angels today.

But, of course, George S's threats elevated the Yankees to a win over the Cleveland Indians. Sure hope the Indians can still pull it off, though. We'll see. If the Indians do win...I'll hope the Indians beat the Red Sox. But, if the Yanks muster another couple wins, I'll be rooting for the Red Sox.

Guess we'll see what happens ;).

*pauses*

Ya know ... if the Yanks do fire Joe Torre ... I'd LOVE for the Cubs to fire Lou P ... and snatch up Torre. What an acquisition that would be!!!!
