The Coagucheck XS is an entirely newly designed machine from the old S variety- all details are available here:
http://www.coaguchek.co.uk/content/coaguchek_meter/product_information/index.html
and for someone in the UK cheaper to run; in that there is not a requirement for testing the machine itself using separate test material. The test stips are available on the National Health
Remember always that the INR test results will depend entirely on the testing equipment ( plus Reagents ) used by a lab etc and how that equipment's results are comparable with ones own testing meter. They are of course all different. Plus handling of blood Time/transporting/temperature/ shaking etc etc will all play a part
I was recently taking to a Registrar in a UK hospital. I was telling him that the results differed between the hospital we were in and the other hospital in the same group. He asked me if I was familiar with the formular!! I am glad he was not my registrar
