Hi Gang,

I am wondering what you all think of this....over the past few days I have been getting SOB that has been getting increasingly worse and so today I came home from school and piled in the Lasix and Potassium....I was wondering if yall thought that I might be back in active heart failure again....I have lost a ton of fluid since this afternoon and I am still losing.....I have also found that I don't want to eat and right now the sight of food is making me sick....Any Ideas? Harrybaby:eek: :D

Hi Harry, I don't have answers for you but I know others will speak to your concerns soon I just wanted to say I'm sorry you're having trouble and I hope you're better soon Thoughts and prayers coming to you Barbara

Any weight gain that would indicate fluid retention? Any girth changes around your waist area which could indicate ascites?

When Joe had ascites, it would affect his liver and cause nausea and loss of appetite.

If it doesn't resolve, a call to the doctor is needed.

Harry, don't you take any chances with this. You call the doctor tomorrow if you're still feeling bad. Hugs & prayers are coming your way.

Harry, I'm sorry you are having these troubles and doubts about your health. I would persue your Dr. if you don't feel better today.
Good luck.

Kim

I did forget to mention that I have been feeling really bloated over the past couple of weeks. Usually, I notice any swelling in my hands, but they don't seem to be too bad. I do however notice that the calfs of my legs have REALLY swollen up (I was told that this was from the Pulmonary Hypertension. I doubled up on my Lasix and Potassium yesterday afternoon, so we will see how today goes. I am still waiting on an appointment for Dartmouth Hitchcock to see a PH Specialist / Cardiologist there to discuss replacing my Mitral Valve...

Nancy, I have to say that Joe was a real fighter to deal with all the illnesses he had, and I am trying to fight the fight, but I want to ask you, Did he ever tell you that he was tired of dealing with all the medical problems? I know I am feeling this way right now...Between the Diabetes, The COPD and Asthma and PH, and my Mobility and Kidney issues, there are days that I just get really tired of it all.. I will be calling the doctor if I am not feeling any better in a day. I just don't want to end up in the hospital as I have a good thing going with college. Hugs, Harrybaby:eek:

Harry, I just wanted to send best wishes that you get this resolved today. ..THOUGHTS ...PRAYERS....AND LOTS OF (((((((( HUGS ))))))))

Harry,
As Nancy mentioned before, you should probably be weighing yourself on a day to day basis to keep track of the fluid retention. It can sneak up on you before you're aware of it.
There are days I have to double up on my Lasix, and the cardio told me to do that based on weight gain that shows up on the scales. Of course, if it continues, then I have to call him.
I'm sure you are sick of your health problems, and the weather hasn't been very cooperative. Nevertheless, you are doing so well in school that I hate to think of your getting discouraged. Hang in there, Harry, and I think you will have brighter days ahead.
Hugs,
Mary

Harry, hang in there, guy! I know you have multiple challenges -- more than me -- but your posts about your studies and other activities show there's a lot of life to be lived. Never give up fighting! I pray that these latest issues will be resolved quickly for you.

Hi Harry-

"Did he ever tell you that he was tired of dealing with all the medical problems?"

Yes, Joe used to ask, "Why me?", but it was always brief and he always went right back to fighting again. Maybe I helped him fight, 'cause I used to get after him when he was getting too depressed.

So, I am going to get after you a little :) . Having some fluid on board has a remedy. You know that. Yes, it is inconvenient, calling the doctor and waiting for a recall and all of that, plus you aren't feeling well. But do it anyway. Place that call, get some help. Do what they tell 'ya, and jump over this down period of time to another time when the fluid is going to be gone, and you will be feeling better.

You have things to do, and places to go. Got to keep working on that degree.

Forge on ahead, me boy, like you were in a military battle--take that hill over there--conquer it.

I agree with Mary--you should be super vigilant with all of your symptoms. Do not let them rule your life. Get after them before they start to cause trouble, That was how Joe survived as long as he did. I was always tweaking something every day with his doctors' help.

Ok, Pollyanna will leave now :D

We all know when we are backsliding,at times it can be a real danger or it
can also be a result of anxiety-this happens to me.Weight gain and edema
are good objective signs to rely on,loss of appetite and esp SOB can be a sign of CHF too , esp if it occurs on exertion, but if you are prone to anxiety as I am ....
I also believe in following your intuition-we know when something is up.

Lotsaluck,Dina

Bloating too?

Bloating too?

You sound like me. I had a Tricusp. Valve replacement 2 months ago(bovine)
and still having ankle/leg edema that fluctuates and SOB that fluctuates too.
I feel disappointed that Im not better, though my md assures me it takes time.
Just wanted you to know I understand , Dina

Well...Part Of My Problem Is.;...

Well...Part Of My Problem Is.;...

I am waiting on an appointment with a PH/Heart Specialist at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital due to the fact that I can't seem to get the cardiologists in my area to touch me. I verified this with my Primary Care Doctor and he told me that it's because they are nervous about helping me due to the severity and the multiple health issues that I have besides the heart. Dr. Hussain has told me NO EXERCISE and NO LIFTING WHATSOEVER, and he told me that if these doctor's are not willing to treat / operate on me, then I don't want them. I even went to a "VALVE SPECIALIST in Concord NH (About an hour from me) and this dude wasn't in the room 5 minutes and first he refused to even look at my cardiac MRI and then he told me that he couldn't see me. I needed someone closer, and he just kept giving me reasons why he wouldn't help me. So I am PRAYING that Dartmouth Hitchcock will do something, as both my Pulmonologist and my PCP feel as though it's time to replace my Mitral Valve. The saga continues......sheesh. Thanks for all of your support guys....it just seems that I do fine for awhile but then the CHF sneaks up and bites me in the buns....Harrybaby:eek:
