My wife Allyne has a number of health problems -- had a stroke in 1996 and surgery to cap a brain aneurysm. Lately she has had some shortness of breath so her GP referred her to a cardiologists' group (same one I go to), which today will administer a test, which I gather is an alternative to an exercise stress test (since there is no way she could do a treadmill). They've written down the procedure as adenosine cardiolyte, and they call it nuclear cardiology. Anyone familiar with this? Is it safe?

Will appreciate any good thoughts and prayers you can send her way.

I had it and had a bad reaction after the test. I couldn't breath. Most people go through it just fine, but some of us have problems.

I will be keeping SUPER ALLYNE in my prayers. Please keep us posted.

Joe had those several times. He always claimed they weren't any problem at all--but hey, that was Joe. He never complained about anything except one. The only one he complained about was one with a treadmill and some drugs (which I think was a stress echo, can't remember exactly). They had to stop that early and he didn't recover for several days. But I was there in the room when he had the nuclear type cardiolyte tests, and he didn't seem too stressed.

Sorry your wife is having problems.

I'll say some prayers that everything will be OK, and she can get a fix for whatever they might find.

I'll pray for your wife. She probably will be fine. My mother couldn't tolerate this same test; they quickly stopped it. So, they are probably used to different reactions and won't push it if your wife doesn't tolerate it. Best wishes for a successful test!

Prayers and good thoughts headed your way, Bob.
Let us know how it turns out.

Bob?.my golf partner?s wife had what they referred to as a ?non-gated? stress test. I don?t know if this is the same thing or not, she had no problems with it.

Allyne will be in my prayers?..you too.

Thanks so much to all for the good thoughts and prayers. Amazingly, Allyne didn't have any bad reaction to the test. I say amazingly because her system is super-sensitive to all sorts of medicines and medical procedures. Thankfully, she did fine with this one.

They didn't give her the results today, which I guess is as should be. One of the cardios needs to analyze all the data. So prayers still needed. Thanks very much!

You have mine Superbob....

You have mine Superbob....

I have had a couple of the chemical stress tests, and I won't do those again as I too had a bad reaction to them...The feelings were HORRIBLE!!! Anyway, I am really glad that your wife's went well and she didn't have any problems, and I will keep her in my prayers and thoughts as the doctor's figure this out for her. Harrybaby:D :D :D

Better days are neary here..

Better days are neary here..

Bob, Superperson:

I am sending all of my good wishes to Allyne and to you. I have had this test before and must do it again soon. My first time was a real winner and I know Allyne's first time will show a very good result.

These kinds of tests can be worrysome. I hope you are both taking things a bit easy for know. Hopefully, the results of the test wil give the doctors good directions for future care.

I will keep you both in my thoughts and wishes for better days ahead.

Kindest regards,
Blanche

There are several drugs that are used as alternatives to exercise for the stress tests. They are usually monitored very carefully.

I wish your wife well for her test, and results that are plain and fully actionable.

Very best wishes,

I'm glad the test went well. I'll keep her in my prayers for good results!
