Carla

I had a valve replacement on February 29th. My recovery has been a mix of ups and downs. When I came out of surgery, I developed A-fib and was put on Amiodorone. I finally was taken off of it this last week. The next issue was my thyroid. It was totally out of whack, after going to an endocrinologist, I believe that issue is getting resolved. But now I have to face kidney surgery on Wednesday. During all the testing for my heart surgery, they found a tumor in my left kidney. I could not have surgery on it until my heart surgery was complete and I was on the way to recovery. I decided to go ahead with it, first because it is impossible to stop thinking about it, and knowing that I will have a setback in recovery. It has played havoc with my emotions and I will be glad to get this one behind me and finally move into recovery. It is frightening to go through another surgery so soon. I just needed to share this with someone. It is hard for family to understand what this is like. I will be back online after my surgery. I have truly enjoyed reading the posts. There have been many times when I feel so down that just reading how others feel has really helped.
Thanks

Carla, you have my prayers. So much to handle in such a short amount of time. I pray that your fears are not realized and that the surgery goes easier on you than you anticipate. Take it a day at a time and know that we care.

Carla, I put you on the calendar and will keep you in my prayers.

I am sorry you have to face so much at once. I just had my OHS less than two weeks ago and they weren't able to fix my valve so now I have to go to Michigan in two weeks to have it done again. It is hard to face multiple surguries at one time, it can really get you down. I keep trying to tell myself it is better to get it all over at once than to have totally recovered and a year from now be told I have to do it again. I have had my thyroid out and getting your thyroid levels right can wreak havoc with your whole body. You can get through this just keep giving yourself little pep talks throughout the day. It really helps, so does keeping busy. I will be thinking of you and wishing you the best.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. I will update you when I return. It is so good to have a place where people truly understand.
Thanks
