If a cardiologist and the surgeon he referred me to have classified these numbers as "Critical" aoric stenosis, am I wasting (precious living) time in thinking of another opinion?...I was told that interpretations of echocardiogram results can vary (error) slightly but that, given this, I still would fall in the same category.

Any opinions?

Thanks again,

Steve

Counting the millimeters

Counting the millimeters

Hi Steve --

My cardiologist said anything below 1.0 cm2 is real stenosis and "0.5 cm2 is inconsistent with life" (curious wording). Yet I am reported to be at 0.6 and have relatively few and mild symptoms. For that reason, and with apparently little reference to the numbers, I have been approved to put the operation off until September 4th. So go figure, as they say.

See also Gerry's renarks in answer to the thread on "Reading the results" (or something like that), which I found very enlightening on the same topic.

Best,

Peter
