    MRSA and a little concerned.

I had some kind of Staph infection a couple of years ago. It gave me hard, red, sore bumps like you describe. In my arm pit area on both left and right, and down my sides a little. My family Dr. put me on some kind of very strong antibiotic, I can't remember the name. Anyway, it killed it, I...

    we're new here :)

When you go talk with a surgeon, ask the surgeon about repair success and failure and how long a repair might last. My mitral repair lasted a whole couple of years. I certainly would have considered a replacement had I known a repair may not last. It didn't cross my mind to ask about how long a...

How long after surgery did you need or use your prescription pain medication?

You must make them understand..... Tell them you need pain relief, tell them not all people are made the same. You need to tell your Drs. that you have pain and you want relief. My surgeon gave me two weeks of oxy and two weeks of vicoden. The oxy gave me such bad nightmare dreams that I stopped...

    Black and Blues on Warfarin?

I would be very worried. I would be sure to ask your cardio about these black and blue marks on your next visit. Remember, you are your own best advocate.

    Black and Blues on Warfarin?

Im on a beta blocker and Benicar and I have had more black and blue marks since going on the betea blocker than I thought possible. I think mine are because of the beta blocker. Sometimes I bump myself and think "well here comes one" most times they just show up. I'm pretty sure the ones that...

After your surgery, what are some of the things that you found out that surprised you

I was surprised at how much Toradal hurts going in unless its injected very slowly. And the BM? not easy......... note to self (eat a light meal the day before surgery) The temporary Pacer. The drain tubes. The heartburn. Getting me on my feet the next morning for a chest xray. How little...

Going to the cardiologist for the first time..

The tube was a big concern for me also. My surgeon said to just let it breath for me and to not worry about it. Well, he was right. At first when I started to wake up, I thought I was not getting enough air but I remembered my surgeons words and very very soon I was asleep again. I don't hardly...

    CT Scan

I have had more CT's than I want. I've asked my Drs. if we could do MRA's instead, they said sure, they prefer MRA's. MRI/MRA takes much longer and is a bit more uncomfortable, for me anyway, but I like not having the radiation worry of CT's.

    Traveling Alone for Surgery

When I was discharged I felt really good, ready to go home. Home is where I wanted to be. My wife drove me home and by the time we got there I was toast. I could hardly lift a finger. The 1 hour drive was the longest year of my life. My wife is a good driver don't get me wrong, its just that the...

Nuclear stress test and echo -- normal!

Oh Margi, if I may... My wife and I knock a few down once in a while and it becomes a time of joy, laughter, and silliness. Mostly silliness. Big time silliness. Just what we most need sometimes !

    MRI with St Jude

I think there is more to it than we know. Is it harmfull...? I don't think so based on my research of Edwards. But Edwards is my only baseline.

    MRI with St Jude

I had an MRI a couple of weeks ago and I felt some warmth on or in the chest when the machine was running. I know my Edwards annuplasty ring is MRI safe per Edwards and I asked the MRI operators their opinions. I also told the operators I felt some warmth in 2004 when I had an MRI and I was a...
