Thanks for the prayers. Lynn, apparently the coumadin and plavix work differently. Without the plavix, there is risk of a blood clot due to the stent...I did ask the doctor if the coumadin & aspirin were enough and was told that it wasn't.

Thanks for your replies. My dad's INR is currently under 1.5. He's been on a heparin drip since yesterday and will have the pacemaker inplanted today. This is per the hospital's protocol.

Thanks everyone. We will be getting a second opinion on the stent issue. In the meantime, my dad will be having a pacemaker placed in tomorrow - we already got a second opinion on that. Please pray that the procedure tomorrow goes well....they are trying to get his INR at or below 1.4 in prep...
