Wow - nice shirt and sombrero - of course, living in sunny Victoria you would need the hat! I hear it is pretty good at keeping snow off your face too:p!What a great scar - I am over six weeks post surgery and my scar, although healed and not bothering me, is still red for most of its length and has developed a zipper look as my chest hair folicles grow back:eek:. Did you get stitched or stapled? I had been advised that stitching gave a better scar, but if you were stapled I will have to go looking for the person that told me that:rolleyes:!

It looks to me like he was glued. Most of the scars I've seen that are thin lines are either glued or steri stripped. IMO stitches and staples tend to look more like a zipper.

I know I wasn't stapled but I'm not sure about the stitching or glue. I didn't have to have any stitches pulled so it was probably glue. (I heard that was why crazy glue was invented)

I'm one month out of surgery and feeling pretty good. It is still cool in Victoria, especially in the evening and morning but getting back to normal. We were 12 degrees for my afternoon walk yesterday. Unfortunately I've heard there is rain in the forecast the next few days.

Tobagotwo,

I am requesting an official Tawdry shirt. My surgery is the 18th. If anyone has one, please let me know and I can get you the address to mail it to.

Thanks,
Randy

Ian I'm jealous...wish my scar looked as good as yours. Cameron and I had surgery on the same day (almost 8 weeks ago)and my scar is still red, and so are the scars where the drain tubes were. I had staples....

Greetings from the other side of Georgia Strait.

No need to be jealous, I used trick photography. (actually poor photography) The trick is to over expose the image so every thing looks lighter.

Actually I'm quite pleased with the scar, it isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Ha ah..........you cheated Ian. ;)
NOW the truth comes out LOL :D

As none of the previous shirt owners have stepped forward, please PM me with your address, and I'll send a Tawdry shirt. I have tow left from the original Tawdry Shirst, which are pure silks,a nd over a quarter of a century old (US size Large),

Please be aware that part of the tradition is to post with a photo in the shirt, and then to offer the shirt to the next person. If you seem to have it for a couple of weeks after posting, please post to see if someone is looking for it. Then you mail it to them, including a copy of the photo if you have one. Over time, quite a folder of photos should be circulating with these shirts.

However, it would really be nice to see offers to mail from those who are currently holding active Tawdry shirts. After all, they're sort of Tribal.

The point of these tasteless shirts is their history, tradition, and their oddly physical and emotional link to the many who have worn them after undergoing the same life-changing surgery that you have undertaken.

Thank you,

This is way off target - but it's about the scars.

Actually yes and no. It's not only about the scar. It's more of a brother/sisterhood thing that was started. See the sticky at the top of this forum. We want the tradition and the hood to continue.
