My husband, Randy, did well today with the aortic valve replacement. The doctor, who has been doing this for more than 30 years, said Randy's valve was one of the worst he has seen and he was in trouble. It is a good thing he had the surgery now! I was able to see him only for a few mintues but he looks marvelous! I'm sure he is thankful for your prayers and well wishes, as am I.

Glad to hear the news! Randy and CA Pigg (Carole) can compete for worst valve today. :) Will continue to pray for a smooth recovery. Update us when you can.

Great update on Randy's surgery! I'm glad he got it done when he did.:)

Update on Snoopy

Thank you for all the uplifting comments. Just saw him - he looks amazing! His breathing tube is out; he is chomping on ice; he is talking up a storm. He says his goal is to golf by the end of the month; his nurse says probably next week. ;)

Honestly, he is doing so well they are planning on moving him from ICU to a step down room in the morning. He has the best attitude and the nurse says he is a classic, a wonderful patient. I am so proud of him!

Thanks, again, for your support and concern.

Randy's wife, Deb

Congrats! You must be relieved! Hope his recovery goes well. Don't let his great results so far cause him to overdo in the first weeks back. He can easily hurt himself if he gets too macho! Tell him to listen to his body and his doctors!

Wow! He's doing really great so soon post-op. I echo Chuckdo37 though, don't let him overdo it. It's pretty common to recover mentally much faster than physically, and then the body rebels. The pain meds mask things, too. I found my self taking a couple of steps back every so often by trying to do too much. It's still early though and he's doing amazingly well so congratulations! I'm sure those in the waiting room are inspired by how quickly he is progressing. Best wishes continue for a smooth and speedy recovery.

Snoopy's Recovery

Even though the doctor says Randy is ahead of schedule, I am anxious to see how he does as the meds decrease and his physical activities increase. Time will tell. Thanks for the warning! Best of luck to those of you who still have this journey!

I just replied to Courtney's thread, this is great news.
Remind Randy he doesn't need to be a hero and to take one day at a time okay?

Oh yea, Deb; hope your looking after yourself and getting some rest.

God Bless
