"I'll be with you" ... Cheap Trick ... 'The Flame'

Just a quick update. Things are going well. My sister was moved from the hospital to a rehab home yesterday. Unfortunatley, she developed a staph infection at the IV site and will be on antibiotics by pic until the 20th. As a result, there will be no chemo treatments until the infection is gone. She would have liked to go home, but was still not able to get in and out of a chair by herself, use the restroom facilities herself or walk very far with the walker so, she needs the rehab facility for at least a week or two before her husband will be able to care for her at home. She is having OT in the mornings and PT in the afternoons and is determined to get out of there. Her daughter, daughter-in-law,and great grand daughter are taking turns a week at a time to be here so that they can take care of her husband and visit her as well. Feeling more relaxed about it all now. Will be happy when we get her home again.

I'm glad to read that things are going better than you expected. Keeping you all in my prayers.

Oh, Phyllis.................

Oh, Phyllis.................

I am so sorry to read all of this. (((hugs))) You will be so missed here. I know I am in and out, but I could always count on your kind face being here when I drop in. Despite your being missed, I do know what you are going through. I took a leave of absence from work and went down to be with my sister at MD Anderson when she was battling cervical cancer. Nothing else was as important to me at the time, and with hindsight, I am very grateful I was there to help............soooooooooo I definitely understand. YOu have your priorities straight. We will be praying for your sister. Thanks for updating. Much love. J.

Phyllis good to read your updates, and continued prayers for all of you

Have been thinking of you, Phyllis and missing you on here. I'm glad your sister is improving. Hopefully, the staph infection is under control and your sister is one step further in coming home. Keeping you all in my prayers. Linda

Phyllis, you and your family continue to be in my prayers.

Hope everyday is an improvement and you are looking after yourself.

P.S.
Can I adopt you as a sister?

I have good news today. My sister has been doing very well at the nursing home with her PT and has been anxious to go home. Today she went to the infectious disease doctor and since she only has two more days of antibiotic by pic he sent her back to the nursing home with a dismissal order. She will have a dose of antibiotic by pic in the morning at the nursing home and then go home and then go to the doctor on Friday to have the last dose and the pic removed. We are thankful that she is going home while her granddaughter is still there until Saturday as that will help her get settled properly. She will have a visiting nurse and any other aid she may need and will need to have an appt. with the oncologist next week to see when she can resume the Chemo treatments. Oh, and more joy, her granddaughter and great granddaughter (newly born) from Key West have driven up and will visit her in the home tonight.
Keep your prayers coming that she stays well, does well with the upcoming resumption of Chemo and maybe after three weeks of treatment, she and her husband will be able to go back to New London to continue treatment and be near her family. Dick and I will be leaving here the third week in April and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will be able to leave then too or close to then.

So glad to read your update. Your sister remains in my prayers, as do all her family.

I will continue with the prayers; obviously they're working! Thanks for sharing the good news, Phyllis. Now if we can only get Louise home and then back to New London!:)
