Well, I called my surgeon's office and they already set up a date for my valve replacement. Feb. 20th is the magic day! So, I either will awaken with 2 mechanical valves, or 1 homograph and mitral repair or tissue replacement.
My cardio says it's a 2 surgeon job. Lots of stitching required and he says my surgeon, Dr. Craig Miller, is an artist in the stitching dep't.
The question to ask any surgeon is who will do the stitching of the valves, and I'm happy to say my surgeon does it, and stays in the room until the surgery, including sternom closing, is all finished. A 7 yr resident may close me up!
I am okay with what ever valve outcome I get. I am calmer today, now that it's all set up.

Gail, I'm glad you have your date and have put you on the calendar for the 20th. Somehow, I think it is calming to have a date and having confidence in your surgeons is the best!

Dr. Craig Miller is a highly respected Surgeon who has operated on some of our members, including one who needed a complex repair of his aorta. You will be in "Good Hands".

Gail, best wishes for a smooth procedure. As we used to say in the Navy, you can do the next 5 days standing on your head. Good luck.

Ready, set ,go

Ready, set ,go

It looks like your ready to go and get it done.Once youre in and they give you the happy juice it goes so quick, next thing you are waking up again. Remember to keep hugging your little pillow and try to keep your humor (there is always someone worse off).
Good Luck with this experience
