Hi all,
I finally got a surgery date, pending a release from the dentist. I had gone for a cleaning and my dentist found a slight absess at the base of one of my teeth. I guess it was a good catch on his part. I had a root canal in the morning and met my surgeon in the afternoon. He said I set a record with the number of questions I asked. It was kinda neat to grill the chief of staff! He did answer all of my questions even though he was only with us for about 1/2 hour. Ive decided to go with a tissue type valve even though the Dr. would have reccomend mechanical for someone my age. I just dont like the thought of being on Warfarin! I dont feel that I lead a structured enough life to deal with it. Anyway, my date is March 9th. I have to wait a few weeks and get my tooth x-rayed again to be sure the absess is gone. I also was able to get my Cath schedualed the morning of my surgery. I was not really interested in having it done any sooner. I figured I'd just get it all done at once! So now I guess I wait and second guess my descisions::eek: Ill keep you all posted

Mike,

Good luck. Take Sheridan's advice and try not to second guess yourself - it'll drive you crazy. The 9th is just around the corner. Although I don't have my date yet, I should be getting it this coming week, the window we are looking at is the first two weeks in March, so maybe we'll be doing this thing simultaneously.

Stay strong, be positive, and look forward to upcoming year!

Hey Mike
Just got a brand spankin new Carpentier Edwards valve and its running like a champ. My lungs have been a problem but when I have that sorted out, Heidi and I will stop by and take a look at that big-ass boat you've got!
Your valve choice really is irrelevant. You know what you can settle for and since you have made that choice, you now have other stuff to engage you.

Good luck

David

Good luck Mike!! Great to have that date set. I'll be anxiously awaiting your positive updates in the post surgery area. I'ma week behind on the 16th.

I am new to the Forum...and am sitting down tomorrow with the surgeon. I am sure, I will posting on this Forum quite a bit now. Hopefully I will be getting a date for my surgery after this consultation.

We are needing to replace my mitral valve.

Are there others here who are from Kansas City?
