Ian had a difficult night ...a lot of pain..not much sleep...had to have an ECG ? to rule out heart attack... Dr feels he has endo cartitis??? (inflamation in the lining of the heart)...I am a bit teary...I hate seeing him in pain...hopefully it will be better soon..he is still in CVU and they might keep him in a bit longer to settle things more..... I am worried...

I'm sorry he had a rough night, I'm not sure but perhaps they were talking about pericarditis, if so it is pretty common post op Hopefully they will do better keeping his pain under control

Ian is in the best place for there to be an issue. They have seen it all and know how to take care of them. However, they can and should be doing more to ease his pain. Hopefully, he will have a better night tonight. There is a good chance he won't really remember all of this phase of his recovery.

I hope that you meant pericarditis, not endocarditis. That's what it sounds like from your description. That's a pretty common complication, and is fairly easily solved. I had it and mine was solved with antiinflammatories. Hopefully that will be the case with Ian, but you might want to read up on pericardial windows when you get a chance, just so you can be prepared for the "worst" of the possible solutions. Make sure they are giving him plenty of pain medicine. From experience I can tell you that it is quite painful.

Rose,
I know you're worried, but there are usually some post-op complications that need to be adderssed. Ian sounds as though he's hit one.
You could ask them if they could manage his pain better (I had none) and that might make you both feel better.
Please try to get some rest when you can. Your work is still ahead of you once you bring him home.
Take care and God bless
