I am set for surgery next month by one of the most experience surgon in ny.
I just found out by my insurance that I can't go out of the network. I have a group insurance that I thought I can go out of the network by I was mistaken it is HMO. My heart is set up on this surgeon, I feel comfertable with him and he is willing to receive the discounted price of th health insurance, if they will be willing to pay.
Any idea how can I convinced the inurance co. to pay for the surgery? or should I look for another surgen. It took me a log time to find this surgen who was willing to do the minamally invassive operation.
If anyone incounter this type of a problem, please reply. Or if anyone know about a god minamally invassive surgen in Fl who is in the United health network please post a reply.

Thank you,
Donna

Is this a Medicare Advantage Plan or just regular HMO? Really shouldn't matter. IF your physician will give you a referal to an out of network facility, they may cover it, but your going to have a fight on your hands. I battled mine for over 7 months before getting the ok just to have my teeth removed.

This is not medicare, I have a group HMO throgh my employer called Choice plane 049 which one can go to any docor in the plan without a referral but not outside of the plan and I did not know it.

Just a thought: Can this surgeon register or join your insurance co. Two years ago I wanted to see a certain doctor who was not in net-work. My insurance did not mind it if he registered and joined them!

The surgeon agrees to get paid what ever the insurance company is willing to pay plus my co-pay but I am not sure he would like to join their net work, isn't below him, being that he is up scale surgeon? But I am ging to try.
