I'm starting a surgery thread again in hopes that Monday is a go!
I'm glad that you've got Pam to update us, and I'm confident that all the news will be good news!:)
We'll see you on the other side and will eagerly await your first post from home.:)

Deb ~ I'm SO glad you're finally having your surgery. I felt so bad when Norma said your doctor had broken his leg and that your surgery was postponed again. Sounds like this time it is a go for sure, and my best wishes and prayers are with you for a successful surgery and an easy, uncomplicated recovery. Looking forward to hearing from Pam that everything went well.

Godspeed,

Dawn-Marie

Thanks to all who've been posting their good wishes to this thread. It turns out that Zip's surgery may not be the simple MVR we were all expecting to hear about. Her scar tissue from the AVR almost 17 years ago has massed and actually adhered her heart muscle to her sternum.

Doctor Modry's residents have been dropping by with different puzzle pieces WRT Monday's procedures that are slowly building the big picture for D&D as they wait for the surgeon's actual visit either later this evening or definitely tomorrow. She knows that the scar excision and sternotomy will all be performed off pump and now, it seems that depending on what that all entails, they may in fact give her a matched set of new valves in both the mitral and aortic positions.

She has stopped taking coumadin and the hospital is bridging with heparin. Good news though, when she stepped on the scales, she's dropped 12 pounds (at least) of water weight... wahoo Deb! Your denim waits. I'll be calling tomorrow to check on what the surgeon has actually concluded and with Deb's final confirmation of valve type and what they will do to stop this from happening again.

Take Heart everyone and please, keep those positive thoughts and prayers going out for Deb. She really needs them to help her stay brave and calm. I'll read her your good wishes tomorrow when we talk on the phone.
Pamela.

Deb,
Your insurance plan must rock. Two scheduled operation dates and two new valves?!
I hope this means your recovery will only take half as long!
I'll be thinking bout ya Monday and checking here often.
Good luck!

Deb - I am thinking about you and know that this time will be the for sure time for your surgery. We will see you on the other side of the mountain!

Thanks Pamela for keeping us all updated. Please give Deb my best wishes for her surgery.

The lady in the next room to me in hospital had her surgery done the same day as me (by the same surgeon, he was a busy boy that day!!). She had both the mitral and aortic valves replaced with On-x mechanicals, and she did very well, she was out in 8 days.

Hopefully Deb's will go smoothly too - I know hers is quite a complicated case but she has a positive attitude and lots of support.

Go Deb!

Bridgette:)

So glad you got your date and you will be in my thoughts and prayers, Deb. Godspeed!
