Hello everyone, its surgery time again. A week from today I go under the knife to replace my aortic root and ascending aorta. This is my second surgery in less than 3 years. After meeting with two different surgeons and discussing my options I have decided to use Dr. Coselli in Houston.
Back in 2006 I had my defective bicuspid aortic valve replaced with a mechanical valve and was told I was healed, no other heart surgery should be needed. Now, after speaking to the surgeons and their support staff, my ascending aorta and root should have been addressed during my first surgery. Oh well, that?s water under the bridge and I am focused on getting through this new surgery.
My meeting with Dr. Coselli helped me make my decision on a surgeon. My partner and I both met with Dr. Coselli and discussed my situation. We were both very impressed with him and his staff. He was very straight forward with me and said he may also have to replace my valve again due to the location of my coronaries. Dr. Coselli is an expert and really put me at ease since this is not the first time he has handled a case like mine. So here we go again, Thursday Morning I check in at St. Luke?s in Houston. Send good energy my way. Thanks, Scott.

Hi Scott,

Sorry to read about the situation - too bad that your aneurysm wasn't addressed the first time. It does sound like you have a competent surgeon this time and so things should be taken care of properly. Best wishes for a successful surgery and post again as soon as you feel well enough to let us know how it went.

Scott,
From what I've read on VR, Dr. Coselli is a great surgeon and you will be in good hands.
I'm sending nothing but good energy your way, and hope someone will be able to post an update after your surgery.
Best wishes,
Mary

Good luck for a great recovery! You will be just around the corner from my office. I'm very near the Galleria. Let me know when you are tired of hospital food and what you are in the mood for, and I will drop by with good stuff!!!!

Good Luck Scott. We'll be thinking of you and wishing you a successful surgery and smooth recovery.:)

Wishing you a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. All the best.

Thanks everyone for your words of support and thank you Lisa for the offer of food! Wow! I may take you up on that.
I'm taking my computer to the hospital but I am not sure my partner could manage to log on to this site and post something after my surgery. (You have to know him to understand) I will have him log onto my blog and update it. To update this site from home I have to connect through my cellphone's internet due to the site being blocked for some reason.
Since I have had some free time on my hands I decided to keep my friends and family updated with a blog. Please feel free to check it out. http://ibscotty.blogspot.com/.
Since I have had sometime to think about my situation, I am now starting to feel at peace and ready to start the recovery process. I feel very lucky this was caught in time and repairs/healing are on the way.
Best regards to all and again thanks for the nice words,
ScottinAustin.

Thanks for the blog site, Scott. We will check it out and keep track of you that way. Godspeed!

Scott, you may be blocked at home if you first used another computer - happened to me, my office was blocked. Drop Ross a note and he can un-block your home ISP address.

Oh, yeah, and best wishes for your surgery, I had not bumps in my recovery, but the thought of another one less than 2 year after the first one . . . . . Uggghhh
