I got my flu shot about 15 minutes ago! Who's next?

I don't always get it, but it was free through work.

I am getting mine tomorrow....

I am getting mine tomorrow....

I can't afford to get the flu with all my ailments so I make my reservations ASAP....Harrybaby:D:D:D

After surgery I hope. I could get one tomorrow, but not so sure that's a good idea 24 hours before surgery.

This past year was the first time I ever had one. My pcp wanted me to get it before my surgery. Considering my kids have had the flu for the past 3 years running, we will all be getting ours very soon.

I got a pnemonia shot last Monday. Doc wanted me to wait until the end of October for the flu shot. So I guess that's when I will get it.

I'm planning to get mine on Oct. 17th. Our district is offering them to employees for $5. If I'm in surgery before then, I'll see if the hospital will give me one. They were going to give me a pneumonia shot last time, but I thought I was going to be back in a couple of days so decided to wait... Guess they'll do it next time. :p

I have to pass. I'm allergic to eggs. I don't think I've ever had the flu. Bad colds, sinus infections and the occasional intestinal thing..I drove a school bus for 10 years if that didn't give it to me nothing will.

There's a long list too, I think it's called, of those who shouldn't take it. My husband's dad had Guillain-Barre Syndrome years ago so my husband is not supposed to take the flu shot but I don't think that situation is mentioned on the short list.

The form I signed today did mention G-B syndrome, but I'm not sure it said anything about a relative having it. I really didn't read it though, since I don't ever know what it is!

You lucky devil. Put me on that bus and I'll contract every dang bug there is on it!

I'm allergic to eggs, but its not life threatening allergy so I do get the flu shot. I was told today that free clinics start next week - no appointment needed and free to those who are high risk.

In its more severe form, it can be a really horrible auto-immune attack where the mylin sheath (probably misspelled) around the spinal chord is destroyed. My really wonderful and previously vigorously-healthy father-in-law had the worst suvived case at that time and was on a vent for five weeks and suffered sudden onset; he was in his early 40's. (He Had Not Recently Received a Flu Shot.) He became completely paralyzed within hours and suffered nearly total atrophy during those five weeks and has never fully recovered from it. There was a higher percentage of it seen during the Swine Flu and also the Swine Flu immunizations. It follows a virus but is evidently not contagious and a person most probably doesn't get it twice. I've also heard/read that many more people may have developed it at much milder levels but may have never been diagnosed; it may have manifested itself as a weakness following something like the flu. Recently another of our friends, who is probably close to 60, developed it and was on a vent for at least three weeks and she told me that she has heard/read that there have been incidents of it connected to the new HPV immunizations also. I'm no authority, however, and there may be more current stats and info on the syndrome.

Today was our day....8 a.m. we both got our shots. I like the way they do it down here....the dr.'s office is open from 8-9:30 for "non-doctor" related things like INR tests, flu shots, and other blood work. At 9:30 the day starts with the dr. there for regular office appointments. We got there at 8 and were registered and done by 8:15......nice.

Stay healthy all.
